Quit hatin' on the Rave guitar work

How can you listen to the shredding he gave Red House, or the acrobatics in the first ten minutes of the film? Or the new digital sound that came in one of his solos on Fly Away? He rocks it hard here. Quit hatin'!

first of all on rave 2000 dvd there is not a single shreading moment.
he tried to shread on red house blues but he failed.

its pretty obvious he was not capable at the moment to shread on his guitar.
if you want prince to shread listen to joy in repetition live from one nite alone or watch musicology in la dvd.he played on a much higher level on musicology in la dvd.
thats why i hate rave 2000 dvd,its fake, sintetic ,pvc plastic.

Not a matter of hating...it's just important to keep perspective in order to truly appreciate moments of greatness. The entire RAVE 2000 performance was uninspired and robotic. If we tried describing it as great or shredding in anyway does a great deal of harm to his credibility, his fans' credibility and undermines his legendary status as a great live performer and guitarist. Where does this leave stuff like The Ryde from Sacrifice of Victor, or the RRHOF performance, or Fury from SNL, or Lovesexy Live, or SOTT concerts if we descrive RAVE as anything but pitiful??? Best just accept that it was an OFF day in a big way [in fact the whole period between 96-01 was UNINSPIRED AND FORGETTABLE!] and just leave it at that. No matter how good you are, if you are bored and uninspired, you will sound boring and uninspired.

It is not the performance of a rock monster / funk god or anything that can be shown to non-Prince fans unless you are trying to undermine his status. I can't imagine any other big live band would have allowed this quality of uninspired and contrived performance to hit the stores!! Avoid it...put it away in deep freeze and focus on just about anything else 2002 onwards on before 96!!!
