UK Hall Of Fame

I saw an advert this morning on Channel 4 (UK) for the latest installment of the UK version of the Music Hall Of Fame. A couple of names flashed up on the screen and I was surprised to see Prince's name up there. I don't know whether that means he will be inducted, performing or whether there will just be something on him in the 2 weeks of music programmes building upto the broadcast ceremony on Thursday November 17, 9:00pm. Checked the Channel 4 website but it doesn't say anything about Prince... I don't know, stay tuned for more info!

Is this the thing from last year where they got 5 people in, and it was a major bore because the show was just like an 'I Heart/Top 100' Nostalgia show?

The first show was pretty good because they had a build upto it with a different decade being focused on it every week with the 10 top acts and the public could vote. Of course MJ beat Prince in the 80s category. Plus there were 5 acts already decided by a panel that was going in. They have a show in some theatre with most of the acts turning up for the award or other acts doing cover songs. Last year there was no voting, it was just the 5 pre-selected going in and a similar live show. I'm guessing this is a similar live show with pre-selected artists going in again - but last I heard, Prince wasn't one of them. I'm thinking that Prince will merely be part of the musical build-up, perhaps they will show Sign O' The Times again or something.

Prince set for induction in UK hall of fame

http://news.yahoo.com/s/n...rince_dc_1

LONDON (Billboard) - Prince is the latest musician confirmed for induction into the U.K. Music Hall Of Fame, during a November 14 ceremony at London's Alexandra Palace.

Other inductees already named for this year's event are Bon Jovi, James Brown, Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, Led Zeppelin and Rod Stewart.

They join Beatles producer Sir George Martin, who will receive honorary membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music.

Performers on the night will include Wilson, James Morrison, Joss Stone, Patti LaBelle and Wolfmother.

Inductees for the third annual ceremony are selected by a steering group, which consists of more than 60 artists, journalists, broadcasters and industry executives.

A delayed broadcast of the ceremony will air November 14 on BBC Radio 2, while U.K. terrestrial TV broadcaster Channel 4 will beam the event November 16. U.S. audiences can catch the ceremony November 25 on VH1.

Just a little to add to this topic, esp the VH1 airing.

Also:

Prince is to be inducted into the UK Music Hall Of Fame next week, it has been confirmed .

The pop superstar will fly into Britain next week to receive the accolade, appearing at the event at Alexandra Palace.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Page will also attend, to personally accept the induction of Led Zeppelin into the pantheon of UK music.

Prince joins Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi and James Brown as the 2006 inductees, with George Martin receiving an honorary membership.

The 2006 UK Music Hall Of Fame takes place on November 14.

The first article to actually go out on a limb and say Prince is actually attendng the ceremony, though we still don't know whether he will go as far as to perform.

This was the show that last year "inducted" Jimi Hendrix. Followed by a crap rendiiton of 'Hey Joe', and Janie Hendrix accepting the 'award' on 'his behalf' yet she hardly knew Jimi. ...but enough on that.

I hope Prince does perform at it but i'm not holding my breath.

The UK "Hall of Fame" is bollocks. We just don't care anyway.

If we were going to do it, it should just be a UK thing, what's the point otherwise.

Having the public vote is absolutely staggering, wtf do the public know?
