your essentials for each album These are my essential songs from each album (only one). The song that not exactly represents the album, but the one that YOU feels best about for each one.
For You-Baby (nice, beautiful, soft melody/song) Prince-IWBYL (especially the extended instrumental portion. Would have been Gonna Be Lonely but IWBYL is so poppy and has the get down extended portion its delectable) Dirty Mind-When You Were Mine. Pure pop that can be played in any genre. Full band or just on acoustic solo. Controversy-Controversy. 'Nuff fuckin said 1999-Little Red Corvette. I love the second holy trinity of Something In The Water, LDC, and Critic but LRC is so overlooked because it was overplayed. The synths are awesome and when it is the full version playing its as heavy as Led Zeppelins "Trampled Underfoot." Purple Rain-The Beautiful Ones. I am torn between the title track but BO has that vocal and the weird atonal synths . Like a computer having an orgasm throughout and especially in the end. It's as dramatic as PR and I feel the center piece to the album. ATWIAD- Condition of The Heart. The lone piano, melody, and voice. Perfect. Parade-Mountains. I want to say SISIA but Mountains gets me hyped from the beginning linn drum sound beat. Awesome. And the background "choir" that’s barely audible is awesome. SOTT-IIWYG. Another perfect "Prince" song. It's not exactly a ballad, it's not exactly rnb. It's almost unclassifiable.This is the centerpiece to SOTT and even though sped up, his vocal is perfect and creamy soiunding. I don’t know anybody who dislikes this song. Black-Rock Hard In A Funky Place. Best horn lines in a Prince song ever. Lovesexy-Anna Stesia. Zappa/acid/pfunk. When the groove kicks in from just the opening piano keys. Mmmm Batman-Vicky Waiting. Ethereal sounding production. Creamy sound here. Graffiti Bridge- Joy In Repetition. Centerpiece of the album (and career?) Diamonds and Pearls- Strollin because Gett Off is too overbearing after all these years I cant take it. Strollin sounds like For You material. Symbol-Sexy Mf. It blew me away and still does Come-Space. More ethereal and easy going. Chaos n Disorder-Delores. In his sleep Prince pop at it's finest. The Gold Experience- Pussy Control. Prince returns. Kapow! Shy was second in line Emancipation-Holy River. Awesome song that has sadness throughout the plastic production. Please play this live with a decent band. NewPowerSoul-Wasted Kisses. The JIR of the crap 90's. Him doing his spooky songs best Rave-I Love You But I Don’t Trust You. His best ballad post 80's. It hurts to hear the pain. The Rainbow Children- She Loves Me For Me/Last December. Both of these have that yearning in the melody and voice . Musicology-On The Couch. Wow! Likechurch where there is a bbq after 3121- The Word. Awesome pop simplicity! The last 30 seconds, the drum pattern and the guitar. "when Im in those arms of yours I'm so gone"-With U/Janet | |
