The club gigs with Tamar did well, but the May shows in Vegas didn't sell out. Ticket prices probably had a lot to do with that. Wonder if we'll get any reliable attendance figures for these shows at the Rio? I won't be able to fly over and see for myself. The best indicator will be how long the club keeps operating, not how many people show up for the grand opening. I think he would do okay if he did another Musicology-like tour of the U.S. But I'm not sure he has the same drawing power there as in 2004. JMHO. The Sunday show wasn't a sellout, nor was the Friday show, with Morris Day and Larry Graham. As far as the Rio, every new business venture is a risk. Prince has a vision and the only thing he can do is go forward and see what happens. I am quite sure the haters are on the edge of their seats waiting for Prince to fail.

This is so fucking wierd to me. Back in the day, right about now, we'd be getting a taste of the next album.
It's strange to see Prince trying to market a product over time.

Give it a chance and wish him well. There is an abundance of people in Vegas every night looking for some place to hang out.
His prices are cheaper than Elton John and Celine Dion and the audience is treated to a better concert.

He's regarded as a raving homosexual loser who makes shit music. And to a large extent, it's true. The British rock scene is so good at the moment that quite frankly, Prince is boring. I doubt he'd sell out over here. He got an amazing reaction when he performed at the Brits, the British music scene at the moment is shite.

I doubt he'd sell out over here. Thats cuz so many European men project their bs onto everybody theyre obsessed w/. Their institutions are rife w/ homosexuality while they harass the shit outta everybody else. And fantasize about men theyll never be. If its epidemic in the Catholic Church and the Congress, what must it be like in the House of Commons? British rockers, to their credit, have always had the character to admit they were doing bad imitations of great Black American artists. Hope that hasnt changed.

Damn, but I smell that reality show a comin' - Need somethin' after Flava of Love.
BTW what does Pipsy and Dipsy do? Arm bracelets? Is it just me who finds them hard to look at given the chicks he's hung with in the past. Normally, I don't give Prince's women any shit, but these two, dayum!!! hRohRohRohRohRohRohRoh - CAT! where you at!!!!! LQ

900 tickets x 2 nights a week x $125 each = $225,000 weekly.
That's only counting Prince's performances. This also doesn't count the rumored 1500-person seating capacity of the club. Not bad. I wonder what Prince's cut of that is

Spookymuffin said: Marrk said: Don't agree with the 'homosexual loser' part but apart from that i agree. Prince would have a hard time selling out arenas over here. Hence, Vegas and it's easy money. Nor do I, but your average teen does sadly think like that. I live in the UK. At the university I attend, a lot of people in their late teens attend and the ones that I know, that are seriously into their music, may not buy his music but respect his musicianship and like him live. They probably wouldn't want to attend a show of his though. But they are only a slice of the population. There are a lot of other people than teens here that love his music and would love to see him live. He still has a large fan base in this country. And a lot of people from Europe actually come to the UK to see him here too, so what you're saying is not entirely accurate. Prince isn't only loved in the US y'know. That's right, you are Divinity
