I remember hearing this song on the radio in spring 1988,thinking it was the new single from a new Prince album. It's a good song, although the lyrics are corny

Mahler JAMMING ON DA BOX? Prince was referring to the fact that classical composer Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony was played on his portable stereo at the time in question. HTH.

What I meant was; how can you have Gustav on da box and write a happy song like that... Maybe I should ask IceNine...

The end of the song features a Prince 'adaptation' of Mahler's Symphony #3.

Make sure you all listen to the UNEDITED version of "Good Love", which is currently only to be found on the "Bright lights, Big City" soundtrack.
The one on the official "Crystall Ball" CD set is, inexplicably, an edit. "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

The one on the official "Crystall Ball" CD set is, inexplicably, an edit. too right, giotto! what a dumb thing to do, editing it on "crystal ball", it really spoils things for me. i LOVE "good love", it's unparalleled, huh! the introduction alone warns you that you're about to listen to something unlike anything you've heard before. primetime pumping, seesawing, skitty, uplifting, playful, wonderful, dippy, cool, slamming, electric camille-dripped prince.

An edit was ridiculous, takes out a 20 second instrumental break for sake of it. Guess he wanted each CD right on fifty minutes no matter what. This is a con in itself considering all the outtakes Prince has, let alone three X 50 minutes fits on two 75 minute CDs.

The version on "Crystal Ball" is the original track from the Camille project with the end segue intact. The version on "Bright Lights..." has an edit piece break added on.

Yeah but CB's take was an edit of the released version which was a shame.

No - CB's take and Bright Lights take were both 'released' versions, but the one on Bright Lights was added to - not the original.

All I was saying is Crystal Ball's RELEASED version is an edit compared to the former RELEASED version on Bright Lights OST. Jeesh...

theC How do you know it wasn't edited.Wouldn't the ORIGINAL be LONGER.Hell a 45 used to come out BEFORE the album. That doesn't mean the 45 is the original version.Unless you were in the studio or have some SERIOUS CONTACTS how do you REALLY KNOW???

Prince does edit pieces all the time. Witness the circulating edit pieces from "God Is Alive" and also "Turn It Up". I know this stuff because I worked as an engineer at Sunset Sound Factory for four years.
