If you could re-experience or experience one Prince era, which one would it be?

If I HAD to chooee an era to relive, it would be 1999 to Lovesexy, as long as I had access to all of the unreleased tracks as well. That might make reliving adolescence and high school a fair trade

(altho, on the flip side, there are a few plays I wish I had back on the football field . . . but enough about me and my Al Bundyesque lapse . . ,)

lol

I know this sounds completely arrogant but anyone with any true or in depth knowledge of P's career would have to say the period from 84 to 88. I know I am going to get some really bad replies to this but this period is full of creativity and energy. No other artist in the pop world can match this, the man was on fire. Don't hate me too much but the other eras pale by comparison to me.

You're right -- that is arrogant.

I was there for that part and lived it fully. I'd rather go back to a time when Prince was less widely known and really pushing the envelope. (What wouldn't I give to have been at the Ritz in '81.)

I apologize, it does sound rather arrogant, I have the Ritz 81 on cd it sounds great, what I meant to say is that the 84-88 was a great era for me, There's alot of room for various opinions.sorry people biggrin

No worries, we all have our biases, mine is the same as yours. I first became a Prince fan after Purple Rain, which accounts for my bias. Genesia refers to an era that many fans (and former Prince fans) hold dearest to their hearts (anywhere b/w '78-'82, depending on whom you ask). I'd probably prefer that era too if I had been on the bandwagon early.

It does count. smile I was old enough to remember everything in the early eighties. However, I wish I was old enough during that time to have gone to see the Purple Rain tour. I was in the third grade when the movie came out. I begged to go see it but nooo we had to go see Gremlins, which I admit I loved. cool

1999 and Purple Rain. I was too young to truly get it even though I knew he was huge with PR. Plus to see PR in the movies when it was new would have been so cool.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

nod!

But I would also add Lovesexy (1988) in addition to 1978 - 1984.

Just because the tour (I went to both nights in Oakland) was so great.
