...how this picture was taken?



It wuz in Vibe Magazine in '94 & I think it's very cool.

I have this mag (I'm even selling a spare copy in the Market Place section FYI), and I don't really understand this photo. I"m trying to figure out the setup. Is the mirror on the ground? On the wall? Is it even a real mirror? I can't tell if it is a photoshop project, or photo taken from a very strange angle. It is kind of cool, but his leg looks like it came from a dismembered doll.

Could his beauty b the inspiration and reason behind this photo?

I dunno. Bad photography. It was probably Prince's idea. What is he doing? sitting on the floor? Maybe he should have straightened out his leg.

uhmmmm....I dunno. Maybe...see Prince is making a bird with his hands, but it is inside of the mirror. So, like a reflection in a way. But. You see only his left leg, but his legs are wide open. So, The mirror is shaped like a oval or circle. The mirror has an end to it. So, I would come up with the conclusion that Prince is showing the image of sex. Ah, HAH! I figure it out!

First of all anyone that replies to this question and states 100% that they know what the answer is, I personally don't believe them unless it's the man himself. I remember buying the Vibe Magazine back in 94 and reading the article, in fact I read it recently. I also so him in concert In NYC that summer so I was feelin his vibe as a fam can at the time. The only thing that comes to mind was his constant referances to his contractual problems with WB and he felt he needed to feel free, etc... The mirror position suggests the hidden persona or the captured persona in my opionion. As far the leg goes I am sure it's for drama's sake but he pissed back in that day so anything is fair game. Just some thoughts, the mirror picture is Prince's version of peek a boo I see U do U see me?

Does it have something to do with the Muppets?

The way I interpret this photograph is that while one side of him (Prince) is falling/on the way down, the other side of him () is just rising.

They're mirror images of the same person.

Ummm I don't think it's that deep. P is sitting on something, maybe a chair(which happens do be covered with white cloth) and looking into a mirror laying on the floor between his legs.

I think it might have been edited to look that way...
My original idea of how the picture was taken that way is a little out there...

There is no way that Prince took this picture himself (not in one sitting). Look at the reflection - his hands are not holding a camera. It was either pieced together in Photoshop or taken by someone else.

I think I know HOW the photographer did this:

Prince is standing .The mirror is in front of him on the ground (or more: between his spreaded legs) .

The photographer is in front of Prince. Between both is the mirror.

The photographer walks backwards until he gets Princes face on the mirror.

Prince is looking into the lense reflected through the mirror on the ground (he doesn't see his own face.)

The clue is: This pic is upside down.
Just turn it and you will see.

That picture is in Vibe magazine with Prince on the cover from either 1993 or 1994. Neither "Come" or "The Gold Experience" had been released yet and they were talking about both albums. Prince had recently changed his name and said he was going to release two albums each year....material from the vault under the name "Prince" and the other would be new music under his new Symbol name.

Oops, you said "how" was this picture taken. I misread and thought you meant "when".
