Well...

These are more embarrassing "aspects" of his films:

1) The Funkless-ness of Graffiti Bridge

a) I felt so sorry for The Kid because he was becoming Michael Jackson all of a sudden. The Kid from Purple Rain would never say "Let's lip sync 'Tic, Tic, Bang'" in the streets". I was laughing right along with Morris...

b) Prince didn't even wave at George Clinton during this film. I was expecting some OBi-Wan - Luke relationship. George was supposed to be "The Kid's" new father figure.
I guess Dr. Funkenstein was just too "Funked-up" to carry a heavy role and dialog.
What? No "We Can Funk"?
George and Prince were supposed to be singing that jam
onstage while Ingrid Chavez enters the club.

Oh.. That Death scene in "UTCM" was ridiculous. He tried to
look too damn cool after being shot on the "cove". I thought, "all he had to say was, 'Oh Lawd'".

Jerome: "Not him...Not him, Lord! Not now!"

hahahahahahahahahahaha--ah--hahahha!

I have one from each film.

1) Purple Rain - the lake scene apples utters the line "What do yooou dream of?"

2) Under the cherry moon - kristin Scott Thomas asks Prince "what do want from me?" Prince turns his back and walks away from her and then jumps up in the air, while doing a little spin and holds out his hand and says "I wanna take you to the moon."

3) Graffiti Bridge - When a car or trucks comes out of nowhere and hits Ingrid Chavez. That's not so funny. What's funny, is when the second she dies an ambulance pulls up and they throw her in and then just drives off. No police, no questions, no report taken, nothing.

tick, tick bang

When he is taking a bath in UTCM and Jerome is sprinkling flower petals in the bath with him still in it

When Prince is acting like a cat on the couch with Mary at her party in UTCM

Princes Betty Grable-esque pose as the very very last scene of Purple Rain

When Prince throws his hands up in mock shrug surrender at the Morris Day in a "oh well" expression at tehe nd of Graffitti Bridge

When he looks like he is going to cry becasue he ddint exactly knock their socks off after he did Tick Tick bang

The ambulance in GB

In Purple rain when he is tearing up the basement and he starts throwing Francis L's music on paper like an enraged housewife and he also gives a weird "ughh' sound like a baby is sucking on a pacifier and had to burp yet went back to the pacifier

Whe he ribs his hand through his hair when driving in UTCM.

I've always loved that look he gives on the very last scene after he sings "Baby I'm A Star". That has always been one of my favorite photos of Prince. What sets it off is the sihlouette of the dawn right behind him when he turns around. Classic!! I bought a bootleg called "Possessed" that had shitty quality and songs I already had just because it had that photo on the front. I've always wondered why they didn't turn that photo in2 a poster or a t-shirt. I think I'll get me one made like that. Can somebody say RICCO???

AMEN!!! I've wondered the SAME DAMN THING!!! I even tried to figure out a way to get a still of that scene on the video onto paper...But you are SO RIGHT ABOUT THAT, they SHOULD HAVE made that a poster, that pose is PRICELESS! That pic is also on the back of the Purple Rain tourbook.

i am proud to say that while I have seen all three of prince's films (nonconcert) i dont remember anything other then the fact that they werent worth a second viewing...

for me, just because i enjoy someones music...doesnt mean i will enjoy the film...and these three films tank...PP is saved only for the great concert footage...and the other two should be included with other great flops of cinema like:

Battlefield Earth
The BeeGee's Srgt Pepper Heart
Rollerboogie
Town & Country
Head
Howard the Duck
Ishtar

yeah...UTCM and GB fit nicely with that group. barf

remember they just lost their job/gig because of Prince.. why would that be cheering?

I think Apple 6 wouldnt have been taken on

Nah A6 were the "Hot Girl Group" Bily wanted, Dez and his one "Modernaire" song woulda been out the door I hope. smile

That's a major plot flaw trying to act like Prince and his "Purple Rain" material is about to get ditched while Dez remains. lol

Another flaw is linking GB as some sort of sequel to PR and telling us his Dad had died from the shot wound etc, especially after the intitial joyous ending. Where had Apollonia gone too? Was Jill Jones the same character as blonde waitress in PR? Silliness.

in "Purple Rain" for Me Hearing Him say Answer Me Mother Fucker!! that was funny IMHO.He killed off the Steam from something Stronger which He didn't touch upon.He killed it off with that Response IMHO. Under the Cherry Moon: Him&Jerome with the Bathtub Scenes, the "Girls&Boys" Mic&Sing Routine kinda Hurt that IMHO. Sign O The Times" right in the Middle of a Song Asking Cat to Go out&Cat tells Him to F off? didn't work.Graffti Bridge: where do I Start? oh the Fake Olan Mills Backdrop when Morris&Jerome are courting up to Ingrid Chavez.the WHole City was Princeville,Nelson-77793-11.He thought He was "The Wizard of Oz"?

Graffiti Bridge: When P & Aura are playing Hangman. After it spells out "Mine", Aura says "uh uh, baby...His" & points upward. Very, very cringeworthy.

Also, after the scene where Morris & Jerome pee on a plant, Philip C. says "Bang!". Huh?!?

This thread is cracking me the %$@#! up!!! lol

I hate to contribute, but I can't resist:

  • PR: the little hocus-pocus hand trick he does for Crapples shortly before, "King Kong... STOP!" omfg

  • PR: the lip-sucking, "imagine a toothpick in my mouth" antics as he stands behind Crapples with those BIG ASS shades on

  • UTCM: too many!
    - the entire scene (in the beginning) when the chick is trying to get their rent $
    - his hair when Mary pops over to "disappear... for a couple of hours"
    - anything w/ him & Mary together in the phone booth
    - Jerome crying, "WHY, LORD??!!" lol
    - everything leading up to Christopher's death... and Christopher's death
    - "Here's your future, FRAMED IN GOLD!!"
    - "I brought you some champagne the other day."
    - Jerome playing drunk
    - "I'd like you to meet ME new husband."
    - bath poem for Mrs. Wellington
    - "Fun... now there's a wonderful word."
    - "Dammit, Tricky!"

  • GB - cringing all the way through, sorry to say... sad

I feel bad now... sigh
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

PR:
I really can't think of anything on this movie besides the acting. Aweful, aweful acting.

UTCM:
The part when the girl is trying to get her rent and Prince and Jerome corners her in the elevator. When there's a closeup of Prince and strange music is playing in the background while Prince says "That's right I'm giving you the Bela Lugosi look." Urgh, I cringe everytime that scene comes on.

SOTT:
I don't have one for this one.

GB:
Anything that featured Aura, She was so annoying..."Don't get too close, I won't be here for long." rolleyes OH lawd, I'm thinking "Why are you even here?"

The utmost lousy "I'm want to be #1", or whatever that song is called.

Um, all of them?

Just kidding.

Hmmm. Let's see.

In Purple Rain, the scene where P is looking for his father and screams, "Where are you mother-fuckrr?!!" It just sounded hilarious to me.

Definately the death scene in Under the Cherry Moon HAS to be the worst scene EVER shot in a film. Just horrible.

And ALL OF GRAFFITI BRIDGE.

Mind you I'm not criticising cause I love these movies and Prince, but here goes. Purple Rain The King Kong scene where Prince puts on a tape of a girl crying or moaning. Prince get's a wicked look on his face and Appolonia asks him does he treat all his women that way ? and he says I don't have anybody now. UTCM When He enters what he thinks is Mary Sharon's Bedroom and says Pizza man. Whilst inside he really is in Mary's Mom's bedroom. Jerome Taunts him"You did it to Mary's Mom...You did it to Mary's Mom." When Prince is at Mrs. Wellington's house and they go to kiss. Prince tumbles with her on the floor, but you could see her laughing while he kisses her. The part when Prince has a Flashback of an old woman while at Isaac's house " Christopher " as if he saw a Ghost. I also love the part when he gives Mrs. Wellington the Note from Isaac and says after writing an Expletive Deletive. And she pronounces it" Fa YU" . He says "Tell him it's Chinese." These are wild scenes.

Yeah, except I can't WATCH them.

I'm glad you pointed out that the only REAL redeeming quality to Purple Rain is the music. I enjoy WATCHING these. If you edit out the acting and the script for these flicks, you've got a few good videos.

Yes! I forgot this one. This is suppose to be a chase scene and he's still trying to be cool and sexy by sweeping his hand over his hair on the side. I remember people cracking up in the theater back in 86 during that scene.
