I don't think "star" necessarily refers to a protegée. It could also be the new star in his life -- which is what a wife would (should) be. She's the song everybody wants to sing (how many women would love to take her place?), "when the music's over" isn't about music. It's the honeymoon -- the easy part when everything's going well. "...[A] voice that says Queen got no King" is her personal insecurities telling her he's onto something (someone) else.

Not a clue who or what this song is about, and I like it that way. I love that I can listen to certain songs hundreds of times, and all I can pick up from it is sort of a vibe or feeling. An artist can write a deeply personal song without having to share all the details. Sometimes you have a need to get whatever's going on in you out onto paper or a canvas, but you don't want people knowing the details.

I really do think this is about Mayte....the more I read...
But yes at the end of the day, no one knows except the man himself.
Lucky him.

I've heard it said by usually reliable people that Fury was the last song written for and added to the 3121 album. In that context, I really don't see it being about Mayte but far more probably Mani.

Fury was written ages ago. It's about Mayte.

That's what I thought. It makes a lot more sense if it's about Mayte.

So prince is still singing about mayte?

Anyone get the feeling Prince may have (just slightly) realised he had a damn good thing with mayte and on other women can compare?

He should drop his ego; call her up and say sorry for how it ended, i love you!

She was at the show on Saturday and it looks to me like their relationship is just fine the way it is.

the man who sang "if eye was the man in ur life"
is different than the man who left his wife at home alone

No, I think you'll find they were both Prince. You can't say, "the man who murdered this person is different to the man you see before you, so let's let him off". Two sides, but they're both Prince.

I like the idea of equating a man leaving his wife alone with murder. wink

“Sure, Butch. Everybody’s a racist. I am. You are. This is America. It’s our national religion. The question you want to ask is, do I think your racism affects how ... you behave toward me."
