Looks like the 3121 era is not ended yet I mean, his new site is called 3121.com, he uses the 3121 tag for the upcoming concerts in the Rio in Vegas.
Just guessing, but could it be that after 3121 - the music (his own CD), we get 3121 - the movie (a cinema movie or DVD with performances recorded in the Rio, not only his own performances, but also those of the other artists)? Or maybe we will see a (double) CD, with recordings from the participating artists, a bit like 1-800-new-funk in the past? To me it seems Prince isnt finished yet with this whole 3121-project, and next to that suggestions made here about him acting like some 'elder statesman' for the artists involved might be true. I mean, maybe he's gonna take a few years of from releasing music by himselve, focussing on producing and supporting younger artists instead. I am not sure if that is a good thing, i mean, i think Prince is at his best when he puts focus on his own music and recordings, the orginal Paisley Park 'experiment' burned out like a candle.. But i mean, it might be plausible.

Prince rocks with 3121.com. He has a new nightclub which is exciting. I looked to see when he is performing only on friday and saturday, which is $125 dollars a ticket. The rest of the nights his friends are performing which $31 dollars a ticket.

Why would you think it had ended when it just came out in February? Stop listening to other people they don't know what they're talking about, it might have just begun!

You know what would really mess folks head's up? If 3121 the cd made a resurgence from all this publicity and took over the #1 spot again! Can you imagine the on that one?
Viva La 3121!! | |

I'd like to see Prince promote new acts WITHOUT actually putting his "sound" over theirs.

Lol.. I welcometothedawn, the 3121 album has been released not so long ago, but in my mind it seems like ages...
Maybe it has to do with the following: - After reaching the no 1 spot, the album and (especially) singles didnt really 'deliver' commercially. - After regular spins the first months after its release, the 3121 CD didnt get back into my cd player a lot. I dont consider it a bad album, but i notice it bores me quite quickly, the songwriting is decent, but the execution isnt very exciting, the material doesnt really 'grab' me because it seems to lack the surprises and creative idea's a lot of Prince earlier albums showed. I feel the same about musicology by the way, not a bad record either, but missing real musical 'magic'. I personally am a bit affraid that Prince will go on to long with milking this 'dead cow', apart from that i am not really fond of most of the musicians in the so called 'nu soul' movement, and it seem to be those kind of artists Prince is trying to promote with these concerts (and maybe more?) in Vegas. I (along others fans, i guess) am just hoping for a bit more adventure, creativity and surprises in Princes musical actions: wether its some playfull, creative sound-experiment as the ATWIAD and Parade albums, or a raw, down to earth (bluesy) rockalbum with the likes of Sonny Thompson and Michael Bland. Somehow i have the idea that he is not really developing his sound when he focusses on modern R&B / Nu Soul, i mean he has tried it beginning with Emancipation (1996) and continued doing a lot of that material in the last 10 years (His internetreleases, Rave, parts of musicology and 3121) while personally i dont here a real spark, creativity and interesting musical idea's in most of those songs. I am sure there are people around her who maybe like this kind of material, but personally its not the thing that made me a Prince fan in the first place. Generalising of course, but sometimes it feels he went from being the new McCartneyLennon or new Miles Davis (Parade, Sign) to a younger version of the 60+ James Brown (doing shows for the money, not able to sing and dance to well anymore, putting out mediocre records) or someone who's trying to compete with his followers (the neptunes, timberlake, missy) when that is exactly what he shouldnt do. Right now i just miss the guts, the vision and the urgency in his work, and i am not seeing coming back soon with this 'nu soul' parade in Vegas.
