First i want to apologize to some of you, My friends got access to this site and left some stupid replys to some of your topics, i hope that they did'nt offend anyone for their lack of respect. the dumb asses thought they were being funny. Why do some people take offense or diss Prince or diss you for liking
Prince and his music, they'll make fun of you by calling him gay or calling you
gay for listening or liking his music, saying that he's a hasbeen or his music
is whack, do you have the same problems from people?

yeah. all the time. some even think that I want to be a boy. But, I don't. I am perfectly happy as a girl.

People think Im weird for liking him...but I could care less

I don't think anyone finds my Prince fanhood weird. I've been a Michael Jackson fan for 11 years. Hell everyone thinks it's a natural progression. It's funny, my dad scream bloody fucking murder when I hung my first poster of MJ(the Bad cover shot), but when I hung my first Prince poster--a big version of the shower pic--my dad passed back and forth by it and didn't say anything. People are weird, I pay them no mind. I just dig the peeps in my social cirlce!

I'm a teenager so most of my peers actually have pretty limited knowledge about Prince...most people think he's gay or weird.
And they've never heard his music, so they can't really react on that level.

I find myself here lately not bringing it up because then I have to explain the assless pants, slave, etc. People find out on their own because they hear me playing his music all the time.

My closest friends are very supportive of my addiction, but I have had some people look at me strange and tell me that they were never able to get into his music. I just shrug and say..."so sad for you!".

My family, friends and boyfriend respect me for me and not for who I like

Although I have gotten a nasty comment or two about liking Prince. I usually just ignore them.

Whenever someone finds out I like Prince they usually have some "Prince" story about meeting him or seeing him or something. Yeah everyone but me! All I can say is "Uhh yeah I saw his ex-wife out in public once. She's beautiful. Err..yeah" Then I feel lame!

Who cares about "other people's opinions"? Grow up. How would other people get the info and take time to login here? are you sure you didn't help them sounds shaky to me.

Apology accepted. Respect is hard come by in general and really hard when the subject of liking Prince's mucic comes up. A word from the wise you often become like the friends you keep. I'd get some new ones if I were you.

After 20 years, I think I have finaly worn them down. Maybe they just figure this is not going away. That doesn't mean they understand,but are more accepting.

Prince is an artist that will always polarise opinion.

We all know what he has achieved in his life and the gift he's shared with us all, and for those that are ignorant it's just a shame for them.

If people don't like him then fair enough, it's their choice, just as I don't 'like' certain other artists myself.

It's just the ignorance that gets me.

The best I tend to get is, "I like Purple Rain".

When it comes down to it, there is at LEAST 3 Prince tracks that any one person will dig! Then the realisation of just how good the music is comes flooding onto them!
