I told someone I had Prince tickets,and she called him a nasty name.I realized she has a lot of fear round P's perceived sexuality. And then I relized that's exactly what I love and adore about P. His music, his clothing, his very essence, is accepting the sexuality that's alive and beautiful in all of us.
Anyone agree? Or disagree? What do you like about him?

His creativity, His showmanship, His sense of humour, His musical talents, His pushing the envelope, His style, etc... but most of all he shares with us with what he considers is a GOD given talent. That's a nice person, I think that makes his special. I know a lot of other artists would have banked the money and not given so much of themselves to thier career but Prince is different. I believe him when he says that if doesn't make music he would die. One needs to only go to one of his concerts to see he's very giving and sincere.

Specifically,the heartfelt passion. the references to body, his and the one he's singing about, the funky references to sex and the detailed descriptions, the infused spirituality, and last but not least, the infinite number of ways he does all that.
I never get the feeling he's singing about pain. Desire, lust, and positive energy.

if it is because Prince embodies other elements of his being that differentiates him from those other millions, than it is those other differentiating elements that actually make Prince special to you. logically, it is very simple to see, and anyone who says it is something other than a facet of his musical ability, which is why we are all Prince fans here to begin with, is simply trying to perpetuate an image of themself that is transparent.

Before I saw him in concert for the first time, I viewed him as a mega star (he still is) but the first time I saw him perform live (in 97), I was mesmerized.
