Prince abandoning MySpace? Not that I care a lot, because I really hate Myspace, but I just noticed that his photo was removed from his profile on http://www.myspace.com/prince and also all of his blog posts are gone and any other customization that occurred.
Has he given up on myspace because it was taking so much of his time to keep it updated? (yes, I'm being sarcastic) Has he realized that myspace just isn't providing the same experience as NPGMC and therefore isn't worth his official backing? Or was he hacked? I doubt this as I would expect a lot more bragging on the page if it were hacked (like Weird Al's page was). Anyway, I consider this another disappointment in the NPGMC demise. What do you think?

Everyone is saying he is focusing on www.3121.com
People are being deleted from the myspace page and he is not adding new people either.

Why would u think he wouldn't? It is a good place to use if you are wanting to Network, with your fans and others. A lot of famous use it and yes, most of the pages are actually them or the do have input. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I'm pretty sure that myspace page belonged to Universal. He ain't with them anymore. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't think the page was/is actually him but maybe someone in his PR group as it seemed to get used more when NPG closed.

he just wants to play and write music
make some political commentary from time to time and recommend colorful actors, athletes, and musicians the myspace site did none of that

MySpace, certainly provided that. If he is willing to make a political stand, he might be just as willing to reach the masses in an entirely new way. Online is the way to go. I really find it illogical to think a busy star like Prince would concern himself directly with the day to day running of a website. Like a lot of those stars that claim to be involved with their websites, it is usually hired minions and the star's involvement is minimal. I bet even most of their blogs have been ghost-written.

Agreed. Myspace is crap, though. I can't stand it. And if Prince's site had anything to do with it, I wouldn't ever check it out. I haven't checked out the one that he's got now either.

I think it was maintained (and I use that term loosely) by Universal. His "contract" with them must be coming to an end.
"It's going down like the system of things..." The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Wow, I got a message in my inbox saying that the sender's account has been deleted, Oh well, it was kind of fun being his "friend" while it lasted... Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Hmmm. I just checked & his account is still there and the number of friends has gone back up...maybe it's a myspace glitch and not a Prince/Universal thing. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found.
