Prince at the Maceo gig (great show) and Robert Randolph (amazing show) all for less than $50! Had fun and still saved money for the upcoming shows.
Prince should totally book Robert Randolph at the Rio.

I saw Maceo a couple of weeks ago in NYC.... FUNKY!
I saw Robert Randolph with Santana last year...amazing!

Glad U had a good time- and at reasonable price!

I hope Prince and Maceo will always be friends and work together, but you know Prince he drops people real quick!

here is a show i missed yesterday afternoon because i was sleeping in between Robert Randolph and Maceo evening/early morning gigs

it was Maceo playing with Martin, Medeski and Wood - whom i also like a lot


Veteran jazz wizards Medeski, Martin and Wood had no problem transforming a lazy, cloudy afternoon into a full-on funkfest.

It didn't hurt that the New York trio was prodded by special guest Maceo Parker, best known for his signature saxaphone work with James Brown in the 1960s.

WIth John Medeski's keyboards floating over Chris Wood's bass and Billy Martin's drumming, MMW dipped deep into its bag of tricks, as Medeski's clavinet belted out rhythms that would have felt right in place backing a car chase in a 1970s TV cop drama.

Parker chose to let MMW do most of the heavy lifting, not taking the stage until 10 minutes into the hourlong set. When he did step to the forefront, the force behind such JB classics as "Cold Sweat" and "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" showed that he is still capable of taking the lead. Parker even mimicked Brown, sending Martin into a Buddy Rich Style solo with a wave of his hand.

Having the funk legend on board gave MMW an extra spark, and the trio and Parker seemed as happy to be playing together as the crowd was hearing them.

He just chilled, walked out, played some mean guitar, tossed it into the audience (most of whom had no idea he needed it back) and probably left the building. People didn't know what hit them.

actually, Prince walked from the backstage area to the mixing board, hung out for a while(no one approached him!) He played with Maceo around 3 minutes or so. Sounded great. Flicked a guitar pick at his tiny amp, threw his Tele into the audience and almost literally knocked a girl out cold. That was funny how one of you said he hit them , then left. The lady had a huge egg on her head.
He looked pissed. Just goes to show how a little anger improves his sound.
