hmmm.. ok we know the albums
Prince said in 1998 on Tavis Smiley show the unreleased is "upwards of a thousand" plus all the "live versions" hmm? maybe 4,000 songs, intstrumentals, live versions, unedited versions, unreleased version does that sound right? 4,000 * the problem is like Jimi Hendrex he only was around for a few years and a couple studio albums.. BUt there is so many Live Versions from everywhere.. that they still put out new stuff.. so maybe even more with Prince then 4,000??.. ANY concert that was ever taped is a "different live version"

I think the question that U should be asking is, not counting the released stuff how many songs do U think Prince has written and our circulating on boots...On that question, I would think in the ballpark of a 1,000 or so...Aloha~

One thousand is a good bet. that's 50 complete songs per year + plus some mindless jamming, yeah he can stretch to that. It's still an accomplishment.

Well, The Beatles... but that equals only with the different available titles not different context (remember that bootlegs can also refer to all kinds of unauthorized releases). Prince has definitely more studio outtakes circulating than any other artist and he's got a whopping catalog of live boots released under his name. (www.guide2prince.org)
Actually it's still unclear whether Prince or Frank Zappa is the 2nd most bootlegged artist, but the case with Zappa is a bit different since he actually released bootlegs HIMSELF.

who was the first> I think it was actually Led Zepland. They looked at all the bootleg companies and worked out how many cd's they made of each artist. But prince was definatley second.
