Beats huh? Beats is a phrase used primarily by poser New Jacks and kids. Do yourself a favor and go look up George Clinton and then tell me what's what.

u can say whatever u want,,, it´s okej,,,, i still love 3121.. wink

I think you misunderstand---I love the song 3121. However, it ain't hip hop. It's funk. That may be nitpicky, but it's true.

People who obviously don't know jack about rap/hip-hop shouldn't talk about the genre.

And it is a crappy song on a crappy album that no one will care about in a couple of years time, least of all Prince.

u are wrong

Bingo! U hit the nail on the head. I think a lot of the time its the perspective people bring to the music which determines whether they like it or not. I have albums I like more than others but Prince has never ever released a album that can be written off as "turds" or "crap". When people make statements like that they reveal their own limitations not Prince's. There is a lot of musical inmaturity on this board. Every album Prince has released contains a lot of hard work. Even if u don't like something at least appreciate the work that went into it. When people throw around words like "shit" to describe a person's work they are really disrespecting that person. In other words they are not really the fans they claim to be.

clapping Very well said!

I REALLY don't understand the "crappy," "turd" comments about 3121. I seriously had to break away from all the negative org comments about Prince's new stuff and start listening to it with an open mind. This is a new era of Prince and it is FUNKY, SOULFUL, SPIRITUAL - oh yeah, it's Prince! He's always been funky, soulful, and spiritual. He's just expressing it in a new way and I love it! He's still evolving and I am so thankful that he is not content to rest on his legend and recycle the same sound to please some fickle fans.

3121 is a gem. I love that album. I was just listening to it last week and will be listening to it for many years to come. What I am starting to learn about the org is that many folks here have a hard time accepting it when Prince embraces his soulful, R&B side. It's a shame that your myopic view of probably the most diverse artist of all time limits your ability to receive the whole of his art.

As for me...I am just happy to experience the amazing musical journey better known as Prince! biggrin

u r a true fan:)

i agree completely. 2 many "fans" come on here and completely put down most of Prince's music calling it garbage. Just because he's made some "below average" songs doesnt mean u shuld rip it apart.

I have to agree with the last two posts. I don't understand why people would feel the need to critize an artists work with such simplistic words such as shit and crap. There definitely seems to be a group of people are this site that think that people who consistently make postive comments are a group who are fanatics that are incapable of being critical of this man's work. That simply is just not true, this group in my opinion tends to be appreciative of the new direction that this artist has decided to take at this point in their career. To put it down as crap and turd, etc... merely demonstrates a genuine lack of depth and ability to let others be. In fact it's rather selfish to be so dismissive of an artist's wants and needs, I personally like the P of old but I can relax and let the man be without spewing out terms of distaste. I can think of a million things that make me frown but only a few that have made me smile, P's music is one of them. A little gratitude won't hurt.
