Does anyone know the backgroud behind the dialogue between Prince and the reporter, Vanessa Bartholomew, in the Love Symbol Album?

Vanessa Bartholomew was a ficticious reporter played by the actress Kirstie Alley.

God I remember when that My Name Is Prince video debuted on MTV, and they started off with her, that stuff was silly. I was like "WTF are they doing?"

If you look around on the bootlegs, there's actually a whole series of skits with her that they eventually left off the album (which is a good thing, because the ones that were on there got to be a bit gimicky).

Actually, I liked the Kirstie Alley stuff better than the robot voice seques on The Gold Experience.

Yeah, it's Kirstie and it's made up.

Yeah, the segues that they took off fill in the story a little bit more.... basically, Vanessa is a journalist interested in Prince's paedo relationship with little Princess Mayte.

The 3 Chains O' Gold video fills in the album story arch a little more if you've seen that.

I loved the NPG Operator segues - but I felt that there were a few too many on TGE. I would've like to have seen just a few segues spread out over 3 separate albums from the same era. That would've been cool. Obviously the best segue was the lead-in to TMBGITW, and I like the way that got distorted near the end of the album.
