We've had all kinds of agreements and disagreements about Mr. Nelson. What sparked u in ur life 2 cling 2 his music?? We've talked about what song we 1st. heard and so on, but why him?? Some fans like a band 4 a couple of years and move on 2 the next. A lot of us have been around over 20 years plus.

I started listening in 81'. In 1984 When doves cry hit the airwaves it really hooked me in w/ the lyircs. I was brought up in a abuseive houehold 4 15 years. I found comfort in the music, and a place 2 belong. Ever since then it's been in my life 24-7. I know ppl. love Elvis, Beatles, The Grateful Dead, etc. But what is it that Prince has that no1 else seems 2 have??

We've also thought he has made big mistakes, and does a lot of stupid things. We all still stick up 4 him, and love the music. Some fans come and go, and could care less about his music. Why us?? Why U??

his voice & all those notes he rolled, how he sung them, played them.

I fell head over heels in .I had it bad(and still do!)

THEN, i saw him & it only got worse...I didn't think it could get much betta (and still don't!)

I was in grade five when I first listend to purple rain, my brother was getting rid of his old tapes and got them all.

I don't know why I clinged to his music, i guess I just loved it and got hooked straight away. I could have stopped listening because none of my peers were into his music. I was known as the weird girl who loved prince all through high school. All I know is that I wasn't going to stop listening just beacuse no one else did!

in about '81 i read an article about him... a review of dirty mind. controversy was the first album i bought. i was attracted to his daring and his ideas. have always found his music very idea-oriented and spiritually-based... "sexuality," for instance. here's a man rejecting received values and searching for his own.

5 th grade.. my first girlfriend had a birthday party.. there parents had the 1999 album ( this was brand new).. and we all danced in her basement to it!

then in 7th grade purple rain came out.. and I was hooked, I have "Prince Pins" on my jean jacket..

the actually moment even to this day is..

in the beautiful ones.. the keyboard track in the middle of the song just reminds me sooo much about 1984! the movie, the album and the smell in the air..

also in the movie when Prince explains to apolliana that the track is BACKWARDS.. the person sounded happy but she was crying! ( I was like WOW how cool.. you can do that!!)

MJ reminds me of that character in the movie Basic Instinct.. where that lady (michael douglas's girlfriend) who we find out at the end of the movie is totally mentially crazy over Sharon Stone's character..

( remember when they go and look in her past driver's license and they found out she DYED her her Blonde to be more like Sharon Stone)

What sparked my love 4 his music was how many of today's
artist's have been influenced by him.Most of the R&B artists
today have been influenced by Prince,and so that just led me
2 listen 2 his music.

I know some of U don't like Mariah's or Alicia's cover versions of his songs,but those covers actually made me a
Prince fan.Now his music is the soundtrack 2 my life.

College friends/radio stations ... started reeling me in with their "collectibles" ... Question of U, Joy in Repetition, When We're Dancing Close N Slow, Free ...
But, 2 tell the truth, two borrowed bootlegs sealed the deal. On them:
Noon Rendevous, When Doves Cry (ext.); Something in the Water (alt. ext.), Do Urself A Favor, Love Thy Will B Done, etc.
Been hooked from that point on, because I could always select a song 2 fit my LIFE due 2 his diversity.
