To all european orgers. When do u think he'll start the European tour? I reckon it'll be around September/October time.

I don't know if it'll be that soon...September is only 10 days away don't you think he would be posting dates if he was going to tour in a couple of weeks??

then again you never know with Prince. I wouldn't be surprised if he did some type of hit&run tour to create some sort of buzz around his concerts.

I don't know, but I think the end of September/beginning of October.

But the only thing I hope is that he provides us the dates a lot in advance so we can organize vacation days at our job.

OK back to the question; I was discussing the subject with a friend last night and we both agreed that even if these shows are in smaller theatre size venues with a max capacity of 2000-3000 people Prince still needs to

A: keep ticket prices at a reasonable level, somewhere in the region of 60 Euros or £40 UK Pounds. If he charges similar prices to the US tour then he's gonna be playing to half empty halls.

B: Announce the shows with a big media blitz of some kind, at the very least have ads for the shows in all the big selling newspapers and music magazines in UK and Europe. and not at the last minute either but weeks in advance of the shows!

C: Put the tickets on sale at least several weeks in advance of each gig. It's no good him doing a Lakeland, ie start selling 3 days before the show, if he does that it'll be a total disaster. Though a lot of members will still go, there aren't that many club members in France, Germany, Holland, UK etc and if the general public isn't even aware Prince is playing then as I said in point A it'll be half empty venues.

To sum up a European tour could be a huge success if planned and executed properly. It will get rave revues in the press and put Prince's name up in lights again, he could make the biggest return since Lazarus

If it's badly organised and all a bit last minute then it will be seen as a flop by the media who will, like ravenous wolves tear Prince to pieces

This is really make or break time. If this tour flops sceptical journos will just rip him 2 pieces. Not that I care, i know he's still a genius live! Acoustic or otherwise.

Maybe sept/oct is too soon as he's gotta book the venues and that's gotta be done a while in advance!

If he starts securing locations, etc *NOW* like he posted he could play around october/november at the earliest if he would do things properly (i.e. the mentioned promotion, fair prices, wise schedule, etc).
But if it's november/december (like in 1998) or later I won't complain if the show is right.

If we are lucky, he'll chuck us a couple of fly through dates before Christmas.

My bet is he fails to deliver a world tour 2002. He'll maybe play a few key venues to claim he has fulfilled his obligation to the club.

I hope I'm wrong.

I just hope he won't play in Germany in teh first two weeks of October because I won't be home then...

Maybe he'll change his mind, and come to Denver instead.

My guess is end of September as well (at least that's what I hope), but otherwise it COULD be December, too. AFAIK he's never toured Europe in October/November.

my guess is in september because gavin and gwen's wedding is sept. 14th and i'm sure he was invited. my theory is that he will start the tour around that time.

Prince can always fly back for a wedding, he is not THAT tight. I think October.
