17 Days Is the B-Sides the only album that has 17 Days?

To my knowledge, yes. It was a B-side to When Doves Cry... I think? God, my memory is awful.

I like "17 Days" but I like "She's Always In My Hair" better. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

What's a "B-Side" anyway?

It comes from when music came on records... Records have 2 sides: front and back, 1 & 2, or A & B, etc. Hit songs, usually from the album, would be on the A side and then other side (the B side) had a song that wasn't on the album.
(Old schoolers feel free to elaborate on this concept. ) PS. I love 17 Days, it's my favorite Prince song...it turned me from a casual fan to the obsessed fan I am today. lol. . [Edited 10/19/06 21:25pm] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Probably his best. 17 was the one where when you heard it you kind of expected it to be on something. It was that good. Hell, better then some songs on Purple Rain itself. And nothing has sounded like it before or since. "when Im in those arms of yours I'm so gone"-With U/Janet

Great song.
Paired with any song other than WDC and its an A-side song. "What kind of fuck ending is that?"

I don't like Irrisistable B so much. 17 Days is great, and I just went to get the whole trio of The Hits yesterday just so I could have that song. What about Erotic City being a b-side. I figured that was an A-side ... or a main hit ... or whatever. But I've heard it on the radio a lot, so I figured it wasn't a B-side. What I don't understand is why in the world I've never heard When God Created Woman on the Radio. Do you know how I can get The Most Beautiful Girl in the World?

I thought it referred to 45's. A hit single would be on side A, and something obscure on the B side. Albumes were 33 and you'd have to adjust the speed of your record player to switch between the two. . [Edited 10/19/06 21:25pm]

B-sides could be alot of different things, obscure tracks, demos, extended songs, instrumentals, sometimes just a good song that didn't fit with a particular album. Sometimes the B-side was another album track or an album track from an earlier album. When 45's became obsolete the terms "A-side" and "B-side" singles stuck around. . I always have to post whenever I see a 17 Days thread.
Such a great friggin' song that shoulda been a single. BTW, IMO the extended version of "Hello" (those end lyrics!) comes in as a close second as far as B-sides go

This thread is taking me BACK!!! Flipping over the 45s and experiencing something so personal with those songs. Being like 15 and just loving what I was hearing. I can't believe it was so long ago with music like that. Music so different and fresh. So rich.

Feel U Up is his best B-side. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
