Prince, Vegas, and selling out. The new poll question on the front page of this website asks such a question as this.
I don't believe Prince has "sold out" in his Vegas show, but that's the option I took because it was a little generic. I feel this is another step down however, but anyone that would be honest would realize Prince is been in a sharp decline for over a decade now. RIP Prince. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

With "The Rainbow Children" Prince had a creative jump start. With "Musicology" he had a commercial jumpstart that has carried through to this year ("3121" being his 1st #1 album in years is proof of that). I'd take Prince's career now over the Symbol years anytime. "New Power slide...."

Also disagree, if anyone's gonna take it 2 anutha level or find anutha avenue 4 his music, it's PRINCE. A lot of people r saying he's following Celine Dion, I prefer 2 think he's following in the footsteps of THE KING - and by that I don't mean a steady decline, but a triumphant run in SIN CITY. If he's playing there next SUMMER, I'm there.

I had a great time in Vegas with Prince back in May.
If he does the Rio it would be cool if peeps from the Org, HQ, NPGMC and Princefams chose a date to meet out there for one or more of the shows and REPRESENT for brotha man P. You guys can show Vegas what a purple party looks like. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I don't see Prince as selling out when he does something with obvious commercial intents behind it.
He started off as a commercial artist interested in selling millions of records and making millions of dollars, then he went indie for a bit, now he has returned to commercial projects. That's not selling out, that's embracing what he has been all along. I know a lot of people on here think of him as some out-there indie artist and would prefer he sell only to a handful of hardcore fans, I expect most of those came on board during the late 90s when he seemed non-commercial, but back in the 80s and early 90s you wouldn't have considered him indie.

Very sharply noticed indeed. He always wandered along his own path but indeed he was commerical first and a bit indie later on (which I still subscribe to the influence of Mayte).

Prince probably will not do something he doesn't like nor want to do.

Yup, Prince is a sell out alright: His Musicology tour sold out and was the number 1 selling concert in 2004. His Tamar/Prince concerts sold out in 2006. The Vegas show at $312 a ticket sold out. His aftershows, BET, GMA, sold out in a millisecond (Before I even had time to hit the Enter button, the show was sold out), and because of the wait his next live show will sell out.

I'm still going to Vegas if he has a show. It's a short flight. Hopefully, he'll have a geriatric section for the oldsters.

as far as i know his 3121 shows in Vegas didn't sell out, which i hope is part of the reason his prices will be lower at the Rio.....and they should have a coupon where if you buy 3 shows you get the 4th one half price or something for former club members and poor folks

I do. If you look at other Prince related forum topics, there's plenty of others who think the same way. If you don't give a shit about how a particular orger feels about a topic, why respond to it? [Edited 10/18/06 13:11pm]
