Prince poses alot of questions in a good number of his songs. I think it would be intresting if we all picked a particualr question and tryed answering it...

Now it would be too easy to fall back on the "What is the answer to the question of you?", and I believe you all could reach deeper into your collective knowledge of Prince questions.

"What is the real reason Adam never left Eve?" Never heard a good explanation for that one within the context of the song.

While it's true we've all descended from the same genetic pool, the original story of Adam and Eve through my study of scriptures is that the story of Adam and Eve itself is the "fall" of man from one of spiritual knowingness to spiritual forgetfullness, Adam and Eve are two sides of a coin. When God created the land and sea, the day and night, the earth and heaven, man and woman, God was creating dualities. One could not have Day without having Night. One could not have earth without having heaven. One could not have land without having sea. Adam could not leave Eve because Eve is Adam is Eve. They are one and the same, just different perspectives of the same thing, or different degrees of the same thing. One cannot separate oneself from the One. In my humblest of opinions of course.

I think there are many different answers that work, such as Adam couldn't leave Eve because there were no other women around to leave her for! But in the context of the song I think it is probably simply that Adam was made for Eve and vice versa, as you say, 2 parts that make a whole, and so they could not live without each other.

On the subject of Adam and Eve, I can never figure out how the bible gets away with the idea that the whole human race came from these 2 people, because that inherently implies incest between some of their sons and daughters!

Regarding the story of Adam and Eve, considering it from a historical perspective, I think the argument is that the genes were pure, and therefore any offspring from such an incestuous relationship would not be defect from the mixing of similar genes. Or it could be said that all our "problems" in the world stem from the fact that we originated from incestuous genetics. However, I never got into that "argument" since pure genes or no, similar genetic structure does not mix well, regardless of whether it is at the start of a human race or in the middle or towards the end. Defects may (or may not) occur depending upon how familial genes decide to mix. I do know an individual who is the offspring of an incestuous relationship and she does have genetic effects from that mix. She is mentally retarded and also has some physical defects not related to the mental retardation.

I also think the other argument is that "God was powerful enough to keep the gene pool pure at that time", which given my belief of God I would agree with, however, the same individuals that would make that argument also make the argument that God is not powerful enough to be every where at all times. Such a complex subject, and one that man is not capable of fully understanding with a physical mindset. Though many argue that they do.
