I believe they are both great! Every person I have played the "3121" CD for who is not Prince obsessed has really liked "Incense and Candles." My ex-boyfriend thought it should have been a single release, and I agree. "Get On The Boat" is a song that I feel represents what Prince is like playing live and being funky with his band during a concert.

Love the bass on Get on the Boat, but it's a pretty mediocre song.

Incense & Candles is one of the best songs on 3121. Of course it's ridiculous. The best Prince is ridiculous. It's the only song on the record that moves his music forward (yes, I know vocoders are outdated). The rest of 3121 is kind of retread, as much as I like it.

Incense and Candles is the BOMB yo! I think I Got Off the Boat...

I'd take off both and add SST/New Orleans.

IAC and GOTB are the worst parts of 3121.

....had my 1st Ndepth listen 2 this project last nite @ yo'o'clock N the morning driving across the windswept plains....Incense & Candles has a couple of lines that strike the curious of a prolific writer (hear B?)....2 cuts were difficult 4 B 2 listen through the 1st play (how they impacted my ears-tones didn't feel good).....so on this question would say:

.....4 B.....the "Boat" was water logged sitting @ the dock, if it was about filler a different choice might have left a better conclusion....my trip out on the 3121 definately ended @ "The Dance" = which would play twice B4 hearing that "Boat" song again...

You would have to be a person that doesnt care for R&B to answer this question. I think both of them are great in their own way. Certainly not "sh*tty".

IAC is 1 of my fav's and GOTB is aiiight. The Word is better.

Incense and Candles, by far. And I actually like the vocoder thing.

GOTB is pretty damn average, but I can listen to it without cringing. Not that I listen to it much anyway.

IAC by an absolute mile. The vocoder thing should be burned.
