I ran a thread on this awhile back, so I can more than relate to this thread. I favor the instrumental version the best. P's guitar playing on this is excellent. Actually, it's P playing all of the instruments on this and his drumming is fairly complex. His playing somewhat of a jazz drum pattern and his drum fills in places are definately in the pocket. The vocal version showcases some of P's best display of his high octave range and trickery with hid use of delay on his screams. The man is a genius when it comes to using the studio and it shows on this. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I have to admit it, I have never liked this song (at least not the vocal version-the instrumental version is better). It is overindulgent, goofy and not one I can play in front of other people without getting mocked.
If this had made it onto Purple Rain, it would have been the worst song on the album.
