A True Prince Blues Album? Blues Fans?

I know there was the "Undertaker" but it really wasn't that fantastic and exhibited too much posturing, common to a pop star. Same problem with that Aerosmith Blues album. Do you think if Prince did a straight Blues record people would buy it? I'm talking contempoary Blues not Robert Johnson.

How many Prince fans really like the Blues. What Blues artists do you like?

Pretty much all Prince's albums have varied genres on them mixed up, apart from really his jazz-fusion ones, but certainly I'd love a completely rock album, so yeah, a blues album, why not? I think Prince can do the blues incredibly easily. Most of The Vault album is blues, put that together with odd tracks like The Ride you could pretty much make your own blues compilation up.

If it meant more songs like Damn U, then oh God, yes! Bring it on.

or

the main reason i liked prince is because he's a genre jumper, and sometimes you can't tell what hes doing
i think doing just a blues album would be limiting in that fashion
because of the simplistic nature of blues
unless hes planning on messing with different time signatures and do a muddy waters style song
i'd dig it

but for the whole album to be blues, i dunno
i'd get tired of it
but hey
he did a whole jazz album
why not blues
whats next? new age?

I think it should be a sprawling album that includes no-brainers such as "The Ride" and "Temptation."

But it should also include songs with strong blues undertones (like the piano solo of "Under the Cherry Moon" or "girls & boys," which always seemed like blues in disguise to me.

I'm a blues fiend, so I'd love to see something like that get released.

...

Right after "Roadhouse Garden," of course.

He should cover some of the original blues songs of maybe T-bone Walker and Robert Johnson...who are considered by many as the greatest guitarists who ever lived....his interpretation of the "REAL" blues gods would be interesting...He has played "Red House" live before(While changing the house to purple)...and smoked it...his vocal and guitar skills would make it more authenic than anyone else who has tried to play their music....as long as he keeps it real and raw.....no over editing or overproducing.

I doubt you'd get tired of it. Prince wouldn't do cover songs of "Sweet Home Chicago" he's funk it up and make it his own. I wouldn't be surprised if he plans such a project.
