Exciting stuff for a 12-year old. Plus the pictures I have of Vanity are priceless. You were 12 years old?!!!! How did you sleep that night? Imaging what those Vanity pictures would look like. We grew up fast in Gary.

mine was Lafayette, La in like 1997ish. I Even went to the aftershow and got picked to be on stage to dance with P. I could've died! I danced but I didn't like the song Mr. Happy. I stayed up there for like 3 songs and I decided to move off. A few weeks later, I received a call from someone saying that they had to track down a few people who knew me b/c this other person from NY tracked them down to find out who I was so that She could give me some pictures that she took that night with me on stage. I still have them today! Um... let me warm up my vocals

goosebumps said: The closest I got to an 'aftershow' was a particularly unusual concert at Sheffield Arena in Sheffield in March 1995. 3 quarters of the arena were curtained off so only about 3000 people were there. Prince was in a very relaxed and off the cuff kind of mood, as if he were playing tunes at random. I remember a fine example of Girls and Boys that night and people were allowed on the stage. The night before was a great concert with an audience of about 12000.
I was there that night, he played a couple of new songs such as Dark. Prince wanted to play after the curfew and accepted the fine.

81' the end of the Controversy tour. So it had a couple of 1999 songs. Way too young to be at the show, but my brother was cool enough to bring me.
After that the 1999 album was banned from my house. I had it on cassette for over year, before getting the album through the front door 25 years since and I've never been to an aftershow. Damn Grace!

My first Prince concert was in 1985 Purple Rain. The first after show i attended (i do not remember the name of the club) was during his Lovesexy Tour 1989 at Madison Square Garden NYC. My sister & i were hanging outside in the back & the body guard started letting people in a few at a time.

1997 Jam of the Year -- San Antonio, TX. Me, who was 16 at the time, and my brother, was was 21 at the time went.
Afterparty --- I was too young to get into the club, so my brother also stayed home cause he knew it would've tortured me. Still one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me!

i first saw Prince in 1997. I was 19. I never thought he would play here (Huntsville, Alabama),but he did and I enjoyed it! The weird thing was when he walked on stage. There was no opening act and they didn't dim the lights or anything. Everyone was talking and out comes Prince in an all white suit, pimp hat, and a cane! He called a lot of people to come on stage and dance, the band started playing and the show began..(he opened with "Days of Wild" and damn near blew the roof off with it! The concert was very good....the only slow moment was the Larry Graham set, but even with that it was an exceptional show. It was rumored Prince would do an aftershow, but he didn't. Good music makes me happy.

Oh no, it was definately surreal and a bit innapropiate age wise. I remember for the 1999 tour I liked the Time set just as much as Prince's. They were less over the top sexually and fun. Prince half naked bumping and grinding on a heart shaped bed wasn't that appealing. Now if Vanity was up there, that would have been a different story. Madonna totally stole that bit for one her tours years later The whole thing has been awesome.

First concert - Act I, Chicago, April 1993!!! That was the year I graduated from high school. Instead of spending money for prom tickets and a dress, I spent money on Prince tix and a sexy outfit to wear for my first time with P!
I've seen him 11 times since, but I will always remember my first Prince concert! First after show - The Metro, Chicago 1999 (I think it was 1999) with Common and Macy Gray. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

First Aftershow: April 6, 1993 - Chicago Metro (Act I or II or whatever number, tour aftershow). Front row. Shook his hand after Bambi and got a luagh from him from my reaction which was: First time hearing Come (maybe even first time he ever performed it) and Papa. He had his little pruple notebook in front of him with his written lyrics cuz they were so damn new. Unbeleivable. Perfect show almost ruined by Theo muthafuckin' Huxtable gettin up on the stage My brother, who wasn't even a big Prince fan went with some female co-workers to the Lovesexy show at the Rosemont.I was so jealous!!! My parents wouldn't let my sister and me go because they said we were too young. I think we were 13. After that I vowed to NEVER miss Prince in Chicago again and I haven't. I was 17 when I saw him for ACT I and I have seen every show in Chi-town since! perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Dec. 30th, 1984 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX for the Purple Rain World Tour. First time to go to a rock concert. I was in middle school about 13 years old. I wore Jordache jeans with my Purple Rain t-shirt filled with Prince buttons, a purple bandanna around my neck, and a Purple Rain wallet too. Everyone seemed to be in purple or lace. The most amazing show!!!
The first afterparty was in the summer of 1997 after the first stop of the Jam of the Year Tour in Dallas TX. It was at a nightclub that no longer exists (forgot the name too). I have had the fortune of catching all the other Dallas aftershows since then. The most visually spectacular Prince concert was the 1988 Lovesexy Tour that I witnessed at Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX. First concert: Sporthalle, Cologne, 2.6.1992:
It was amazing. He came out of that capsule singing "Thunder" at the beginning of the concert and I nearly died. Carmen Electra was the supporting act by the way and looked fine! First aftershow: Live Music Hall Cologne, 27.12.1998: He played, amongst others, Days Of Wild, Forever in my Life, Ole Smokey, Question of u, love and happiness, one of us and Oye Como Va. Prince left the stage after a few minutes because someone in the audience was smoking weed. He said: "Stop smoking funny cigarettes and I´ll come back". After he left the stage, Candy Dulfer explained to the audience in german to put out any joints and cigarettes. After ten minutes, Prince came back. I even danced on stage later on. And 27. october 2002 is worth mentioning too, because I had the chance to visit the soundcheck before the Oberhausen-concert with other NPGMC-members. That was one of the best experiences... See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

...to all of you who have managed to make it to any and all concerts listed, unfortunately I have only made it to one (Musicology/ 2004) and it was in Nashville, TN...blew a tire on the way to the after show and missed that..talk about stink!!! But ultimately it was worth the wait, not so much the concert, but just to see this incredibly talented man perform in the flesh was awesome., looking forward to the next tour...whenever that may be...HUGS & KISSES 2 Because of God..we 2 r 1~~Darren & Suzyn forever

first concer lovesexy 88 in NYC in masdison square garden. First aftershow was the jam of the year tour 97 in buffalo ny. After show was kind of sad with him showing with his entourage in this crappy club. He walked in front of us with security guard and all and sat down at this puny round table 10 feet in front of us for an hour. Rather than being excited it was kinda sad and uncomfortable with a few hundred of us gawking at him like he was a fish in a fish bowl. He tried to be cool by talking on his cell phone and talking to his secuity guard but it was really wierd. In fact my friends and I felt so bad we acutally turned our back on him for alot of the time. People were just yelling at him. No wonder he didn't perform, no pool table no vip room, etc. But lovesexy was the bomb, went to both nights and it was the first time and only time I hung out overnight 4 concert tix
