WBAI...... MONDAY MORNING JAM!!!! ( THIRD SESSION!) Every year WBAI sponsors a Prince Tribute that allows the radio station time to give what a very special musician/genious what he deserves! Monday morning at from 3 a.m.-6.a.m. was the third and final installment of the Tribute weekend. Last night was basically just a few live gigs from the 2002 tour and a few studio jams.
One of the live shows that was played was really great except that there was this one woman who screamed throughout the entire show on the top of her lungs which came out very clear over the music. I found it to be very distracting, and disappointing because the NPG were performing some real funk with Maceo Parker and Buddy Miles. It was true late nite funk!!! But anyway it was all good! I give a thumbs up to Steve Marshall and the gang at WBAI for making true radio come to life!!! I look forward to there special every year and it gives true Prince fans a sure insite of what it is all about!! I know the fans are getting the message, but it is time to let the world know what is cooking in Paisley Park as well. I only had one request for next years tribute and that would be, play a better balance between the live material and the studio tracks that are in your collection. Give them equal time. I do understand that you were doing something different this year and it was excellent, but there are some unreleased and rare studio tracks that are truly amazing that were not heard. My suggestion next year, if you get three nights again is take just one night out of the three and make it a studio track nite! Please don't get me wrong, there is much love and appreciation that goes out to Steve Marshall and the gang,it is only a suggestion. The third and final night did conclude with Steve Marshall giving his love to all the fans who support the tribute and a shout out to everyone that free radio is what it is all about so support WBAI radio God Bless them for giving us fabulous radio! The remaining tune that Steve left us with was a studio track unreleased to this point in time,"God Is Alive," followed by a few second fade out of a live version of," Anastesia."
