PLUS the near 20 minute version of Purple Rain, which in my mind is one of the best guitar performances he has ever done and ever will do, and u have one perfect concert!!!

That concert is so timeless, that it would bring houses down even 2day if it was performed anywhere!!!

The promo video versions of TMWU and IWD4U/BIAS kill the versions in this video. Purple Rain needs to be retired for all eternity. Not because it's a bad song, but because the shit has gotten lame. The piano medley on this tour was not very interesting. I think the one in this video is actually one of the better ones...I guess.

Also, u have 2 realize that it was an actual TV film, which was broadcast LIVE via satelite around the world in light of all the Oscar Buzz surrounding Best Original Movie Song( or words 2 that effect). It was a major broadcasting feat back then 2 televize something like that LIVE via satelite around the world!!!!

2 me, its a very treasured concert performance, which will sadly NEVER EVER b repeated by Prince anymore!!!

Man, I've NEVER heard Prince solo better on Purple Rain than on "Live."

He needs to revisit whatever place he was in that night, with a guitar, tape it and sell the resulting multimedia gem ASAP.

I particularly LOVE the version of Possessed on here. It is so James Brown inspired and Prince tore it up. Also, he killed the game on that Purple Rain solo. I hadn't watched this concert in years. When I did, I was blown away watching that solo.

However, overall this concert highlights how weak the Revolution was as a band. I know folks like to talk about the Revolution as if it was the second coming, but I am sorry, their chops were not on the level of the bands that preceeded or followed them. They did, however, serve their purpose - to garner mainstream, crossover success for Prince.

On a side note, I really like the solo of Purple Rain on the Nude Tour video.

Overall, compared to the actual live shows that I went to on this tour,(all in L.A) this concert isn't nearly as good. But, u may want to take in consideration that this show was damn near towards the end of the tour. Meaning, P and the band were probaly just going through the motions at that point. They were probably tired as hell, tired of all of the wardrobe changes, the cues, not just from P but for staging and lighting purposes. And just plain ass tired of playing the same songs. When I first bought the video when it first came out, my first thought was, "It's o.k, but not nearly as energetic as his L.A. shows and definately not as good as his 1999 tour".

I love this concert. Great beginning, so-so middle (except for Posessed and Irresistable Bitch, 25 yeah!) and a fantastic end.
