New York Visit

Hi

Hope u all can help,

I am coming to New York for 5 days in early Nov from England a i am looking for recommendations for places to go to see the real way of life not just the tourist bit with the obvious attractions.

Also places to eat would be gratefully received.

Staying at the Deauville Hotel if that helps not far from Macy's

any help appreciated

I'm not from NY,from London, UK! I stayed at the Ramada New Yorker, which was just opposite Madison Square Garden. We had a great time shopping etc, but I found it really useful to check the local listings guides as there may be a gig you want to see etc while you;re there - we missed Roberta Flack at BB Kings Bar and Grill, so decided to go and see the Harlem Gospel Choir there on the Sunday - with the added Soul Food Buffet - it was amazing to see those singers, I can't even describe.

Wrong forum,

but as a Brooklynite, I would suggest taking a trip out to Junior's on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, to get a taste of their world famous cheesecake.

extra large portions of rubbish food, can't get a decent breakfast, the rudest people on earth, at some point you WILL bump into Al Pacino [i Did!]. Have to say went to Church in Harlem on a Sunday morning and THAT was amazing.Go to Vegas instead , you may catch a P gig!
