I would like to apologize to all of the Prince fans under age 20 that I've dissed thru the years

The fact that Prince still has teenaged fans is a testament to his influence and longevity. I was on an MJ site and I saw all of these fanatical 16 year olds worshipping him; believe it or not, I felt a twinge of envy for a moment; why doesn't Prince have teenaged fans; oh wait..HE DOES!!!! lol And that's when I realized that I needed to apologize....so, to you teenaged Prince supporters out there, please accept my sincere apologies. boxed

I actually posted a thread maybe six months back, asking the young Orgers how they got into Prince's music, and I was kind of floored by the response. It was so inspiring to see how many young fans he has and to listen to their stories on how they became fans.

HOWEVERRRRR.....I must say this....

teenaged fans of MJ, unlike Prince fans of ANY age (I include myself in this indictment boxed) don't have that dreaded disease called nostalgia. In other words, they don't live in MJ's past like we live in Prince's past. They love him for who he is now, in the present....most Prince fans don't. I gotta give Mj freaks props for that...

You know what, that's the truth. No matter what age, too many fans live in the past with Prince but it's still great that there are teenagers and kids who dig the funk and aren't funk deficient like so many other kids out there. It's a beautiful thing. biggrin
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I actualy DO get nostalgic for MJ. Maybe differently than the older generation, but man, I can remember watching concerts on TV and his videos EVERY TIME they came on and just being totally blown away as a kid, and somewhere there exists videos of me and my little brother dancing to MJ songs when were around 5 and 6 years old. Those were happier times. sigh

I know exactly what you mean honey, I remember those days too, but more often than not, you'll find that 99% of MJ's fans live in the present with Mike, in other words you'll never seen them saying shit like "damn I wish it was 1980 when he came out with Off the Wall and the world still loved him and all this pedophile shit never happened" you'll NEVER find a MJ freak saying that, NEVER...they unconditionally support his current music, no exceptions! It's really amazing.
