Does Prince stop playing songs that are emotional timepieces?

Will we not hear "Curious Child" or "Fury" etc cause they would ilicit hurtfull memories?

More likely he won't play those songs much in concert because they aren't exactly "hits". Fury gets played cause it's current.

But if you get the chance, check him out at an aftershow or some other small club performance. Much more likely to hear the "deep tracks" there.
"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

Eric Clapton still sings "Layla" and everyone knows that's about wanting George Harrison's wife, Patti Boyd, who later married and divorced him. I think painful memories draw out the blues component. The original had alot of passion compared to newer versions, which are slowed down. (Rumors had it, Eric was on H in that phase of his life)
Time heals all. Those songs may not be a priority with the vast output Prince has over the years. P has many lyrics relating to past loves. Depends on what his mood is.

here's a song by Shawn Colvin
called Monopoly

I don't know what else to do
I would rather do anything
Than write this song for you
And perpetuate this thing

In my head, in my living room
With the usual arsenal
Of broken chords and rusty strings
To surrender all

And I don't like to be so weak
Retreating behind these lines
The same old tongue-in-cheek
Regretting that both are mine

And I don't like to live this way
This is really true
But I know better than to pray now
About what I just have to learn to do

But imagine the nerve of God
Letting me let you in
And I thought I could let you go in grace
I've gotta think again

Because right now I would be bought and sold
To see your face somewhere
I would sell your sweet sweet soul
Just to touch your crazy black gold hair

I don't care what's really real
I was someone that you'd heard of
I saw heaven in your eyes
And we made a deal
That's what I know of love

The Music, it never goes
But I told you I hate that shit
When people say "well you know,
You got a song out of it"

But I don't know what else to do
I would rather be anywhere
Than here without you
" the embassy shut to keep the fools out " - as above, so below.

Or to put it more succinctly: "Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief, they kill their inspiration, then sing about the grief" (U2 - The Fly)

I don't hear much talk of him playing many of the blatant "I heart Mayte!" type songs too often

(i.e. Emancipation disc 2)

If you will, so will I
