ok ok so you're saying Prince could open a can on you and you would be ok with that? Unless you're into S&M I would say that's a little extreme. "If you wanted to buy a Sam Cooke album, where would you go?"

The fan all laid out on the ground talking about Oh....Prince just knocked my ass out!! I love you Prince.I love you!!!! Thats why I'll never blame him if he is/was mean; somebody needs to shake ya'll asses back to reality and let you know that a human will NEVER live up to anybody's expectations. [Edited 10/9/06 11:50am] **** I agree with u. Prince is human like us, so its possible he is nervous bcuz he has some problem. If I met Prince I wouldnt b scared 2 greet him. I would look at him (body language speaks louder than words) and notice if he was willing 2 pursue the conversation or not... If not... Its his right 2 HAVE HIS OWN SPACES and 2 b left alone 2 reflect and think in SILENCE....

Not interupting a personal call 2 say 'hello'? u consider that mean? O kay..... No it's not that I wanted him to interrupt his call it's the way he addressed me. Any civilized level headed person could easily just say. "Hi, I'm sorry I'm on the phone". Cool...crystal clear...later. You could say..."Hey what's up,I can't talk now I'm on the phone". Hell... You could even just take your finger and point to your damn ear. But yelling "I'M ON THE PHONE!!" to a complete stranger who obviously knows who you are and is just trying to acknowledge you is just mean. Period. I don't know where you're from but I would think that s*** would be considered mean just about anywhere. OK ..I'm over it. God bless Samuel L Jackson. Prince Mean Bastard..would you still love him?...discuss. [Edited 10/5/06 7:35am] Are you serious? Is that what happened??? Omg I might bust out laughing if that happened to me because of the sheer uncomfortableness and awkwardness of it....then later my feelings might be hurt after the inital shock of it.

My mother has a mental problem. I am used to people who are straight up mean and have no compassion to give or even love. But, if Prince was exactly like my mother in every single detail. I wouldn't care cuz my heart just told me I love them both anyways.

Let me flip the script a little bit. Yes Prince probably has been mean to fans from time to time. But I wonder how many times fans have been rude to him? How many times has he been bothered at restaurants while trying to eat a meal? Or using the bathroom? And how about the people who demand(Instead of asking for) autographs or pictures. It must be very embarassing for him to go some places and have people lose their mind when they see him "OH MY GAWD PRRRRRINCE!!!!!" I know it comes with being famous, But how much can a person take?

I don't think it's in him to be that way, from what we hear he seems stand-offish most of the time and he doesn't like to be hassled etc....and that's understandable. I can see him getting nasty if he felt threatened or was just having a bad day. I've been around a lot of celebrities and of course they have on their game faces, some are genually nice and very out going but what some fans don't realize is that they are human and they have different emotions & things going on just like the rest of us. If it's our one and only time to see/meet them we feel hurt if they don't notice us but that's life, just be glad to have had that opportunity. I never understood why people got so crazy when they met celebrities, fainting, crying and carring on people used to say to me all the time oh you met such & such and you didn't get an autograph. I would say no! I just don't like hasseling people. 2FINDLUV

I have to agree with you on that. I was chillin in a Sam Ash screwing around with guitar effects when I look up and Brian McKnight was walking towards me. I stopped for a second thinking maybe it was just a cat that looked like him. He came closer and I said, "either you're Brian McKnight or you look a lot like him" and he said "One of the two". He was with a couple of young guys, maybe his sons, I don't know but he was really laid back and looked really average. His shirt was a little jacked and he didn't have his hair tightened up. He was just coolin. I called my wife and she said- go give him one of your CDs and I was like Naw...he's chillin with some kids looking at guitars and I don't want to hassel him. He did give me his autograph but of course I said it was for my wife Most of the time you just know when it's not a good time to ask too much. I said "I like that tune with the Marvin Gaye vibe" and he said "Find Myself" I said yeah, shook his hand. That was that. Painless. "If you wanted to buy a Sam Cooke album, where would you go?"

Great question.
Actually, I stopped "loving" Prince back when he sued those 8 Prince fansites for the boots they had posted. I understand he had a legal right to do it, and I understand all the fans who defended that decision, but that one act on his part was the turning point for my euphoric devotion to Prince. I believe around the same time, I remember hearing reports about Prince keeping fans who showed up from on of those old L4OA "parties" that he used to throw during the plastic years. I remember seeing posts about people standing outside forever in the freezing cold only to enter Paisley Park to a night of music in which Prince either didn't show up or didn't perform (yeah, I know it's his choice to make--but it seemed rather inconsiderate to me). I now buy his albums mostly to ensure my already accumulated collection is kept completed, and out of curiosity to see what the new record will sound like. But honestly, I no longer anticipate greatness. I no longer get excited when Prince agrees to do an Interview--they're all bullshit Prince talking points anyways. I no longer enjoy watching any of his videos, and I don't even get all that excited about any of his announcements. The Rio performance announcement for 3121.com means little or nothing to me. In the golden day of Prince, he would have already released a single to a forthcoming album. Now, we're being invited to see him perform songs that most of us long ago tired of. That being said, Prince is still an amazing artist, still far exceeds his peers in talent, and still knows how to blow me away on guitar. I just don't care much for the personality that he's projected on us.

it shocked me how semi-normal he seemed and he had a great sense of humor

shit, I was hurt by some fool I don't even know if they were a celeb or not at one of the celly's...I think it was the last one... I dunno..some guy...to me he looked like a shorter larry graham...I mean, I really thought the man must be larry's brother or something...he was standing right next to me and when I looked at him he smiled with a sweet smile so I said (and maybe this was really stupid and naive of me) "you must be larry's brother, you look just like him" the man's smile left...and he frowned at me and said...in the lobby jam packed full of people..."yeah cause all black people look alike right?" I was reduced to about one inch tall in about one second, I felt like the biggest asshole on the planet...I just said n..n..no, that's not what I meant at all, I'm sorry. I swear the look on my face was of utter shock and embarrassment and I'm sure the man realized what a DICK he just was and quickly tried to dismiss what he said and patted me on the back saying something like don't worry honey I was only kidding or some shit like that but I was so hurt by that, that I just walked away. That's the one and only time I've ever been made to feel that way by anyone. oh well, I'm resilient, fuck him! Gotdamn, what a rude thing for him to do to you! And for him to try to dismiss it by saying that he was "only kidding" just makes it worse. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
