Prince partying at the Pink Elephant in New York

A GAGGLE of princes showed up at Pink Elephant over the weekend and had their waitresses bowing down to them after leaving extravagant tips. Several from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia crowded one table and ordered an $8,000 bottle of Cristal - on which they left a hefty $2,000 tip. Meanwhile, Prince the musician strolled in with a female pal and a bodyguard and "left a huge 100 percent tip on their large tab," said our spy.

I don't believe the story because I think Muslims according to their religion are not supposed to drink and so Princes from Saudi Arabia or UAE would not dare to order alcohol, atleast not in public.

key phrase there being 'not supposed to', which doesn't mean they don't, especially when out of their home country. hell, most of those rich ones have all sorts of women and alcohol in their palaces, it's just hidden.

I know some Muslim men that came to this country for some training (schooling) and they had wives and kids back home and were totally living it up here in the states. They were out drinking every weekend and looking to hook up with girls. The reason some of them came to the US was to be able to do all of these forbidden things. This one dude had 4 wives and was a prince in his country. He offered to give one of the instructors a camel as a thank you!

Yes of course I know they enjoy all this usual stuff, but they do not do it in public, that's what I meant. They are too public conscious of their image, especially Princes and other political figures from Middle eastern nations.

Even when they (Princes) come to India (Where I live) they try to project a little different image than what they actually are, in public. Mind You, drinking may be taboo for muslims of mid-eastern countries but Indian Muslims are not that strict about these things, India being a very diverse nation where different reiligions have co-existed since times immemorial. Yes, there have been communal riots which are a blot on our secular traditions, but mostly the society is pretty tolerant.

And of couse such stories keep on appearing in various gossip magazines but are mostly a figment of imagination of certain 'fertile' minds, and if you read closely, you find certain things (like Princes from UAE / Saudi ordering liquor) which are a little improbable. Imagine if a picture of a Saudi Prince is published in a newpaper in his country, the next thing you would hear is a Fatwa issued against him

Here's a profile from
http://nymag.com/listings...hant-club/....

Apparently it was closed for a while and reopened after a remodel...

Pink Elephant Club
527 W. 27th St., New York, NY 10001
between Tenth and Eleventh Aves.
212-463-0000

Scene
Nightclub, Singles Scene, DJ, Swank, Hot Spot

When a hot spot leaves its perch in the Meatpacking District for bigger and better things, there’s just one place to go: West 27th Street, where the Pink Elephant now resides inside of the building that also houses Crobar. Not surprisingly, the crowd remains the same: Skinny young things in heels and designer jeans and the deep-pocketed lotharios who seduce them with bottles of $3,500 Cristal. The new space, double in size, accommodates 400 and nods to the building’s former resident Tunnel when the lights descend and steam belches from the relatively low ceiling. However it retains its coziness thanks to crystal chandeliers, plants sprouting from behind the wavy wooden panels that are attached to the brick walls, and lounge seating that noodles its way around the room, creating nooks that feel private while allowing for gawking. From the small sunken dancefloor, one is eye-level with the booties shaking on the upper tier and arm’s length away from the D.J., who on any given night will be spinning deep house and on a good night might just be Pete Tong or Paul Oakenfold. — Daniel Maurer
