FOOLS!!!
Let's have a history lesson! 1) Crystal Ball 2 2) Roadhouse Garden 3) 7 cd sampling set 4) Symbol guitar 5) Peace/Radical Man single 6) Mumblings of a "High" album 7) comments of a cd on every seat at concerts 8) statements of re-recordings of every Warner album REMEMBER, FOOLS!: Just because Prince has his website declare anything regarding a recording, DOES NOT make it SO! CALM YOURSELVES! Remember when he announced that "Emancipation" would be a 5-cd set for $80? A 7-cd set of samples for $700??? WHY would you believe that you would recieve 7 cd's for $25? That makes NO SENSE FINANCIALLY at ALL! $$$ COME TO YOUR SENSES! Prince would LOVE to release a 7 disc set! He can't afford to, bootleggers can for almost TOTAL profit. The E-MAIL you recieved if from a properly angry man whose music has been stolen, but Prince is also frustrated and jealous that bootleggers are doing things and making available material that he cannot afford to put together. BOOTLEGGERS are BEATING Prince at his own game.Prince cannot spend the $$$ on studio time, packaging costs, and mailing of 7 cd's for $25! BOOTLEGGERS can take their crappy recordings, copy them over and over and download a picture of Prince and slap it on the cover. Prince and NPGMC cannot release such shoddy product. The BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU would be all over NPGMC! THE E-MAIL YOU RECIEVED IS JUST A GUILT-TRIP BY PRINCE TO JUSTIFY WHY HE DOES NOT PUT OUT THIS STUFF ON HIS OWN+ SHAME ON YOU FOR BUYING IT! HE IS SAYING," YOU WOULD RECIEVE THIS STUFF, BUT SINCE YOU SUPPORT BOOTLEGGERS:TOO BAD!!! NOW, HOW DO YOU FEEL!". Do not worry,Prince nuts! You'll recieve your "Last December" cd, "Very best of 0)->" cd, and your studio jazz disc of "Xenaphobia" MAYBE by the end of the year. MAYBE.Perhaps some of you who are STILL waiting MAY recieve your "One Night Alone" cd yet. $$$ I only call you all FOOLS to not be negative, but to make the point that Prince CONSTANTLY jerks all of you die-hards chains, teases, changes his mind, releases non-sense statements ( Christ-mess) and you people seem to NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER learn! Look how you all act when the mere MENTION of a 7-cd set is uttered! YOU ALL GO NUTS! HAVE YOU NOT LEARNED ANYTHING from Past experiences?!?!? You know the saying, "fool me once, shame on you;fool me twice shame on ME"? When it comes to Prince...EXPECT NOTHING, if something IS released, THEN get hyped. It is STARTLING how loyal you all are to an individual who has let you down so often!

Yeah right!! How much real music has Prince released in the last 4 years. Huh, a free man! Now he can release all the music he want's??? Then how come we haven't seen that much lately?? And why doesn't he release some LIVE material if he can.
To be honest, the only reason I have been able to hang with Prince for the last 10 years is because I discovered BOOTLEGS of material. This is what kept me wanting more. Not some of the stuff he has been putting out lately. I have always believed that anything he puts out-even if not that great-- is FANTASTIC live. He proved this to me when I seen LOVESEXY live and many others including the recent ONA tour. I appreciated this album more after seeing Prince perform it. Again, I don't see any future of Prince getting out a 7-disc set, and not at a low price or free. What happend to the sample set from RAVE. Oh yeah right, I forgt to buy that one. I'll take a bootleg now thank you and see when he puts out anything else, which I still may buy. Peace T. "

wellbeyond said: Me personally, I don't think there's any 7-discs of live performances being planned for shipment...nor do I think Prince was playin' with our minds...just the npgmc asking a rhetorical question, although a somewhat useless one... gubbins4ever said: Its main purpose perhaps is that if NPGMC were to release these CDs then many fans would be upset/annoyed because they already had the bootleg.
It is a message to stop buying bootlegs, not a message to await 7 CDs. I think it's indeed a message in the sense that it contains important information... but what kind of information? The information in the message is put in the form of a question... which only asks to imagine a certain situation and how one would feel about it... I agree that asking someone only to imagine something, in itself doesn't promiss or announce much. But... it is very important to closely look at what is asked to be imagined... That is where it gets interesting, because it IS asked to imagine a Celebration bootleg set that many already know exists on the market somewhere, and/or is already avalaible on file... Now normally I don't see Prince talking that much about bootlegs and all that comes with it... He has generally been pretty quiet and mysterious about it... in my view at least. But when he DOES talk about ... I think that means that thus something must be up... he must be serious about at least something... In this situation there is even more up, because what exactly is asked to be imagined here? It is asked to imagine you finding "The new 7 CD box set of XENOPHOBIA!"... at ur doorstep one Friday morning in the near future coming soon"... At your doorstep soon... No what does that imagination hold? Clearly a promiss of a 7cd boxset. The message exactly says that if it comes true... many fans should not have purchased it on bootleg because it will only made them feel somehow bad about it... because you lost money on a stinkinge expensive crappy quality bootleg, or because of moral reasons. Whichever it will be, everybody can see that the message warns fans not to burn themselves on this particular bootleg in question, because there could very well be an offical much better release coming soon. And certainly most, including Prince, would agree that that would be great. Prince knows lost of members really would like this to happen... and he understands why his bootlegs are so popular. would he really make the general expectations among fans rise but in the end not go through with it? Would he really do that? Would you? Who would do that?! lol shit ... Yes... ultimately and as always it remains uncertain, since it is only a question being asked... but... WHAT is being asked could tell you a whole lot about the truth of the situation. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Anxiety said: If NPGMC were smart (which, well, you know...), they'd send the club members the 7-CD live set as ONE of the four promised releases; this would set a new standard, it could stir a coup and get some media coverage, and it could attract new members wanting to get more bang for their bucks. If I were to check my mailbox and find a 7-CD set waiting for me, I'd probably re-think all the complaints I've had with NPGMC thus far, but I don't know that I'd renew my membership. HOWEVER, if I got that treasure in the mail and knew I still had two more releases to come by the end of the year, I might think I was part of an unpredictable ride (in a POSITIVE way, for once), and I might be willing to stay on for another year to see what kind of crazy offerings would come my way in the next year.
He could really raise the bar with this idea, or he could disappoint his fans yet again. Gee, I wonder which will happen? Well said anxiety! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

release it already!! woo hoo!! You think Prince would actually release the celebration performances? In addition to the already promised releases? If he was smart he would but dont get too excited. [This message was edited Fri Aug 16 14:44:22 PDT 2002 by rdhull] I seem to have missed the message from NPGMC where titles were schedueled and promised. Hasn't the greatest gripe with year two been that we *don't* know what we're getting? Sure, it's been logical to assume that we would get Xenophobia (the studio album) based on what we've heard. This is something very different than schedueled or promised releases. For the record, I would welcome the offer of 7 live CDs to fulfill the releases for NPGMC year two (although I don't think that this is what that message is suggesting).

Well, this is quite the surprise! I wondered if he might do something like this... I kinda think that this is going to be a 7-cd set sold to the general public thru his website just because the message was displayed in the regular paisley news and not in the members area. Also, i think he may actually do this because his CD's would be much better than the quality of any bootleggers out there, which is why fams will buy it!! I stopped buying Boots long ago because they almost always disappoint me. Sure, it's cool to hear songs never released, but those live boots really suck sometimes. Most of the time, they are recorded in the audience and you can hear people talking over the music!! I HATE THAT! I have no idea how they get those recorders into Paisley, but this 12-cd boot IS recorded by an audience member and probably sounds like crap too! I would LOVE to be able to have copies of the songs he did at the shows, but I refuse to pay upwards of $160 for it thats for sure. And IF members get this 7-CD box set of Xenophobia for free as part of the membership, it would make THIS year better than last year BY FAR! All you nay-sayers would have to eat your words for sure! And for those of you who bought the boots already... patience is a virtue! Sorry for you! Remember: When you signed up for a membership it said "at least 4 CD's in the year". I think that this is a GREAT IDEA! Prince should do it for sure!

My theory is that Prince is merely singling out the Xenophobia example because of how effectively it has been bootlegged - and right from his very own studios. How intrusive is that? This is more of a potent case example than anything else.

i would actually love to have a live set from the celebration, but only if prince left them untouched... if he fucks around with them in the studio, then forget it... he can keep them...
this is my problem with the live versions of "1+1+1 is 3" and especially "days of wild"... i finally obtained a copy of "days of wild" and i called my buddy will over to listen to it with me, since we're both huge prince fans... at first we were jamming out to it, then prince starts rapping... our jaws dropped... will says, "i thought you said this was live? is it just me or do i hear several princes?" it bugged this piss out of me as well... you can tell from the way the band is vibing that it's live; you can tell from the crowd noise that it's live; but there's just something wrong with hearing several princes going at the same time that fucks it up... it no longer feels live... it feels like a studio recording... so, it depends... this could be a great idea or a terrible idea... Did anyone else notice that "Power Fantastic" and "Extraordinary" that are on the XENOPHOBIA bootleg, and are supposedly from the second night of the Celebration, are ACTUALLY from the New York soundcheck on April 9th? I compared the two directly and they're IDENTICAL.

Damn you're pickly. I thought the sound quality of the current 12 CD bootleg set ranges from very good - great overall. Sure it's not soundboard, but it sounds good 2 me (and to others I've talked to). I'd still love a soundboard set from Prince though.

Let's have a history lesson! 1) Crystal Ball 2 2) Roadhouse Garden Good point! Those first two still make me sad and a bit irritated. Especially because Prince publicly blamed Wendy and Lisa for not releasing the Roadhouse Garden, when of course it was entirely up to him whether or not to put it out. Well, we still love Prince despite his foibles, including his incredible indecisiveness and mercurial nature. Actually, he should thank the bootleggers for much of the love we have for him. Most of my best Prince listening "moments" have been to his live stuff, 99.9% of which is from bootleg tapes/CDs/mp3s. I only bought a handful of them, and the other 200 or so, I either traded for or downloaded for free. [This message was edited Sun Aug 18 8:07:02 PDT 2002 by TonyC]
