YUP - This song is tight. I remember I was visiting my brother in MPLS in '94 and I taped the video (still have it) and then they drove me to uptown to the NPG store and I bought the CD (1-800-NEW-FUNK). I wore that song out and the cd isn't have bad either...Mayte's "If I love you tonight" isn't too bad.

I much prefer the original 1-800-NEW-FUNK version, the Shock G mix on Crystal
Ball just doesn't do anything for me (same with most of the unreleased mixes too)

Well, it's made my list of favourite Prince songs ever, so it is GREAT.

I did edit it, though. I always disliked that part after the pistol shot, at 3 minutes 55 seconds.

As my list is alphabetical, the next song is Make Your Mama Happy, of which I edited that weird vocal intro, to make it start at those four drums beats...

Now Lovesign's gentle sounds scape leading into the edited-off pistol shot segues straight into those four drum beats. Really kewl.

Oh well, that's the gold seal of approval then. giggle

Wow! I'm glad you - and everyone else - loves it so much. Killer track! Very underrated. And it makes me feel all gangsta when I'm singing along. pimp sexy razz

So are you referring to the 'Show us... the Love Sign...' bit, where Nona Gaye sings the outro?

I love all of it. hmph!

Yes. It just seems plastered on after that shot rings out.

It's more the male vocals that irk me in the outro. I kinda like Nona.

I *do* like that - love the 'D.M.S.R.' sample in it but, like Boris, I prefer the original. Good stuff. thumbs up!

Next Meet-up/party - this is the jam I'm requesting. nod

I always remember the first time I saw this video! nod I'd already bought the 1-800 New Funk album and was shopping in WH Smith giggle one day when - all of a sudden - Prince, in a video I'd never seen before, appeared on the overhead tv screens they had in there. It was on mute, so I couldn't hear the music, but I managed to work out it was 'Love Sign' from lip reading. smile Plus, Nona Gaye also appeared in it so it was no great process of deudction. geek lol But I stood there, mouth open , for the full video. It was a great surprise that day.

I must've been going through a '94 phase on Saturday because I played this track several times, followed by parts of the 'Exodus' album.

Another overlooked gem. nod It always amazes how funky Prince gets on his side projects - I hope he cracks out that bass again soon. drool

Never that remix. We breed different Prince fans, you and I... lol

Did anyone see Prince perform Lovesign on Soul train? He performed Acknowledge me, now, beautiful girl (Mustang mix - my fav) and Lovesign...there might be another song but I think that is it. During the Lovsign performance he was in the back up high playing the one-eyed bass and Nona was up front at a podium like a politician and Mate was holding up signs saying things like "No Guns" etc. It was all lip-synced but it was still pretty good. It was the right before gold experience was released, no one knew what was going on with his career and he was wearing a lot of makeup...crazy time.

I've got that performance but - for some reason confuse - I've never watched it. Maybe it's the fact that it was lipsynched, perhaps.

I was thinking on Saturday: I'm so glad I got into Prince during this period. It was such an exciting time. Apart from the fact I had *all* that back catalogue to digest, there was an incredible run of releases (Come, 1-800 New Funk, Exodus, Chaos & Disorder, The Gold Experience) - most of which are completely out of print now. I'd be very fustrated, as a new fan, trying to hunt down these albums.

And, of course, Prince was going through another freaky period which is always good for us guys. mr.green
