When Prince decides to take residence in Las Vegas for 3 months, 3 years whatever, and cash in by playing his old hits night after night for a bunch off millionaires and mobsters, yes, then it is his choice.

I really haven't decided whether this Las Vegas thing is going to be a bad thing or not. I don't get that it is for the rich and famous only, everyday folk surely stay at Vegas hotels and see shows. Shows like Celine's and Tom Jones' are so successful because it gives access to legitimate fans to see them time and again, and what's bad about that? Speaking as someone from the UK, it makes no difference to me whether Prince is playing a month in Vegas or a month wandering around the US, to see him in either location would take as much effort.

Besides, I really don't see him being locked down to a long-term residency at the expense of recording new material, everything we know about him proves he is changeable and records constantly, he has never got stuck in a rut and I don't see it happening now.

I don't care as long as he releases Crystal ball 2 & 3 & 4 without unedited crappy remixed songs.

Sometime in 1985 a teenage version of myself realized that this Prince guy just might be a bit of an ass who's liable to make bizzare career moves that I don't understand. Since a) I don't know Prince, and b) that stuff has nothing to do with my enjoyment of his music, this realization didn't really phase me that much. But that's me.

If for some reason your enjoyment of his music is tied to how he lives his personal life or conducts his career, then you probably do need to move on.

If you totally agree with his life/career choices but aren't feeling the tunes, you should probably move on.

If you dig the tunes, but ain't feeling his choices, just buy the new music when it comes out and judge it accordingly.

Sigh.. Of course, i aint no stockholder, but a musiclover. The fact is Princes music has let me down for TOO long now, and that his actions surrounding the music have overshadowed the music in a bad way...

I consider myselve a fan because Prince in the eighties, and for a part of the nineties has created and released wonderfull, original, inspiring music, but as a 'fan' i also feel sorry for him not using his capabilities in the right way in the last 10 years, i have seen him drifting away to far from his muse, and according to the news from the last months this wont get any better in a short term.

If 'fan' means, support your idol trough thick and thin, trough good and bad times, i guess i am not that kind of fan then. I really appreciate and enjoy the music he released unto 1988, and a bit less the music between 1989 and 1995, i consider myselve a fan of the music from that period, but i am in the first place a lover of good music, and Princes music hasnt touched me that much since 1995 / 1996 as it did in the period before that.

In short, why should i follow an artist whose music dissapoints me for 10 years now, on a daily base, in the hope of a new '1999', 'Parade' or a new 'Sign'..?
I rather use that time paying attention and listening to artists who can give me music i enjoy, then following the next steps of an artist who his wasting his talents, and only brings me irritation.

I had this feeling after The Gold Experience,I was disapointed in the albums that followed and thought he could do better.
But now, these last couple of years, since ONA..Live IMO,I don't see why I should complain. He made some good albums and I got over it in '96 that the Hit-years were over 4 Prince biggrin Don't expect what won't happen again, maybe we all would like 2 go back 4 a few days 2 '82-'88,but don't blame Prince that he can't do this 4 U. wink

I get a kick out of his eccentricities.
If you take his moves too seriously,

YOU have the problem,

not him.

I missed the HIT N RUN tour and the MUSICOLOGY tour ON PURPOSE. I have no interest to see him do hits. I have no problem missing this vegas thing, if it develpos into a review show.

Prince is not to be taken seriously, in any way shape or form.

i understand peeps who are disappointed in any kind of vegas revue. its cheesy and predictable. in a word, "lame."

as for those who roll up in here talking about "don't get all wrapped up in what prince is doing." um, y'all know you're on a prince fansite. frequently. lol just pointin' out the obvious. some of you cn try to pretend you don't care about what prince does but...you do. otherwise you wouldn't be here.

why the sarcasm or hostility just cuz someone is expressing their dislike of a celine dion proportioned and inarguably cheesy move. sure, the whole "prince is dead to me" thing is a little...well, extreme. but again, we're on a prince website. i've seen mfers fall on the floor damn near in convulsions just cuz they're on one of his dvds. but ain't nobody telling them to chill. why come?

anyway...yeah, vegas would be lame move.

I could never see myself dropping him period! I'm a fan! Sure I might not totally love every single song he has ever written but for the most part...I love him...he has always been a part of my musical collection and he always will be...even after he stops making music.
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

Look, I'm not down with the news that Prince may be playing Vegas. To me, Vegas is a symbol of a star that's washed up and to me Prince is far from that. But in the end, it's just another chapter in the saga that is Prince. I'm hear for the music and the dude's pretty cool too. lol I just would like for Prince to stop thinking with dollar signs and think more about music. In doing that, he'll get all that paper he craves but, it's not official so who knows what's up. I just know that this is definetly not what would make me drop Prince. Not at all.

This is what I don't get. P is working and people are downing him for uhh... working. Prince donesn't live for free anymore than any other adult (unless you're a bum and even then you're still looking for pocket change). His life style may be more extravacant than the average person but even after that he has has bills to pay too. I really don't think his band is working for free.
