so do you think he will honor the life time memberships from the NPGMC? (unless the NPGMC was a completely separate company he would legally be obligated to do so) but then again who is going to go to MPLS to sue?

I doubt if he will. And honestly, it doesn't bother me in the least. It's only $25 that I'm out for the lifetime membership. I figure I got $25 worth out of NPGMC. Time to move on to the next experience.

Yeah, Las Vegas has connotations, plenty of them, very much deserved, but....
Prince was never an act like Lou Reed or Van Morrison. His sense of shmanship made him borderline "Vegas" a long time ago. The one requirement he would have is to play plenty of hits, and he's been doing that for a long time. Colour me unshocked, unstunned and unsurprised. Still I hope he doesn't stay there too long.

venue probably wouldn't be limited to mpls. but that's neither here nor there. Lifetime membership to the NPGMC was for the lifetime of that club, or you, whichever ended first. Appears that the club ended first. "What kind of fuck ending is that?"

from what i have been told, that only works when the club closes and never opens or the club was a separate company and went under.

...I guess something's up. Hmmm [Edited 10/2/06 12:27pm] The Rio Casino is real nice and classy. The area inside where the concert took place is called "Club Rio". It had seating all around the wall areas and the center of the floor was very roomy. If that's where he plans to be then more than likely they'll call it "Club 3121" while he's there..maybe. During the Time and Larry Graham show they had theatre- sized movie screens all around. The camera guy had it so you could see them performing and also the audience on the screen. Very classy and roomy. The stage is no more than about 7 inches off the ground (if I remember, not sure), matter of fact I don't believe it was raised off the floor at all. We were very much in front so you basically had a good view even if you were 10 people back. The npg security was very nice too. They did call out for npg members before they let most of the crowd in at that time. [Edited 10/2/06 12:34pm] [Edited 10/2/06 12:39pm] [Edited 10/2/06 17:41pm] when? You f*cked it up

I just left Vegas yesterday and can confirm that the new 3121 logo is definitely the Rio. No question. While in Vegas I saw a commercial for some special awards type banquet/show that said "special musical guest to be announced". I can't for the life of me remember who was hosting the show or what it was for but I commented that I wouldn't have been surprised if Prince was the special guest. Hey, I was probably drunk at the time and could be imagining the whole thing. A residency at the Rio would be cool for Prince except that I just came back and might not make it back out to Vegas until next year. The cheese factor isn't going to be an issue. Celine is Celine..pure cheese to begin with. Elton John is just playing his songs but with a little more production value. It's still just a concert. It just happens to be in the same place for multiple nights. What better way for many people to see Prince that may never venture out to see him if they came to their home town.

NewMr7 said: In my view, pioneering, truly legendary, creative Artists do not embark on Las Vegas residencies. I may be about to be proved wrong, but there it is. Hello, which planet have you been living on? Pioneering is not the right adjective for Prince for the last 10 years at least. There is hardly any artist >35 years that is pioneering anyway; Miles Davis probably the last one with Tutu. So fine to do Vegas. Hey, it is a new experience for him. WOuld love to see camp, dressed to the nines, over the top shows as he did with Lovesexy live...
