Anyone notice certian tracks seem to have great sound quality when others sound shit.

e.g 'i;m yours' sounds great to me.

so does 'let's work'. The unreleased verion of anotherlover sounds better than all of parade.

I think purple rain album sounds great yet parade sucks.

i believe it has allot to do with the final mix downs ( who does them).


i know that parade with rushed. Purple Rain was relxaed in its production.

Maybe Im just being 'Negative Nancy', but nothing from For You
sounds 'amazing' to me

the sound qaulity i notice does very from lp to lp. . i did notice that. . i thought Mountains could have been clearer

1. He's talking about sound quality, folks, not whether the songs themselves are great.

2. The songs on "For You" ARE great!

3. However, the sound quality of "I'm Yours" is total ass. I love that song and always wish it were clearer.

I can only imagine a remastered collection of the 78-88 albums done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Some remasters are overly compressed following the modern trend and have distortion an clipping.

p.s I like Parade and for you otherwise i wouldn't be bothered about the mixing/mastering.

Any Engineer, Wants to Take time to Set all the Levels Up and make it sound right.In the beginning he was taking his time and the recordings reflected this..

I think Prince's current work Ethic in the Studio does not allow them to do that.. Only Person that could really keep up with him was Susan Rogers - and even she couldn't keep up with the Man's productivity.

have none of you guys considered getting a sound editing program off a p2p or buying a legit one? i've remastered all his hit from 78-88 myself. now they all sound as good as his later albums soundwise. nothing like a bit of 'punch and sparkle' on those older recordings.
