They are doing a rate a record on the Radio Chick Show. Chuck Nice , a comedian
and panelist for the show, said Prince wrote it while he was on the crapper.

Callers to show also had very little positive remarks about the song.

It's an ok song, but not what I would call a great single. But I wouldn't say it "sucks" by any means.











But, heh-- It's better than Bobby Brown's Ghostbusters song, and that didn't do so poorly.

They probably haven't seen the movie that makes the song complete.But I'm not mad if everybody doesn't like it!

It might fit in the context of the film, but as Prince songs go, it ain't top tier. Sorry...

Y'know...saying someone wrote something on the crapper doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. That expression generally refers to something that was tossed off quickly (in the amount of time it takes to...you know) and without a huge amount of thought.

The song does sound tossed off (in my opinion). BUT...as a writer...I know that sometimes the things that sound most tossed off were actually very difficult to write.

Just an aside...carry on.

I thought Prince's song was nice for a movie like Happy Feet.
I just didn't like the movie.

Well, y'all should've heard the response to "If I Was Your Girlfriend" on the main radio station in my area back in '87. Talk about harsh - and this was coming from the listeners...The subject matter was, uh, "different" and the song wasn't conventional by any means. Most people didn't know how to take it.

This song seems to have the opposite effect - it's a more "conventional" song, especially by Prince standards. Maybe many of the listeners don't know how to take a "safe" effort by Prince, even a catchy ditty like this one.

I don't know who Chuck is but I do know that there were a lot of people dancing to it in the theatre today. It's perfect for the movie.
