Prince Vs Cyndi "Money doesn't matter tonight" Vs "Money changes everything". What was the more realistic song? What was the less egotistic song? Do these songs complement or contrast eachother? News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Cyndi's was more realistic.
It was more fun. It's a better song. (I love you Prince I do, but Cyndi's song rules in my book.) They contrast eachother.

I really like Cyndi's song -- personal and passionate.

everytime that i start comparing "things", i get this lurking feeling that i am too much into my ego. the ego sees division. so, i won't compare Prince and Cyndi as each and there works are their manifestations of love. [Edited 9/28/06 22:55pm] ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

Well more then a comparing, I thought we might examin the two, seemingly simular in the contrasting way, songs and messages. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

Well, both are great songs. Its interesting because both are quite reflective of their times. Cyndi's was the early 80's, when the Yuppie culture was in full force, you had Madonna's "Material Girl" around, and its basically looking at it from a personal perspective - the greed of individuals, whereas Prince's reflects the early 90's more politically charged era, referencing the greed of corporations and governments.
Both are favourites of mine though, in fact its really made me want to go and put my Cyndi Lauper album on - that was a cool record. Even her cover of When U Were Mine is good.

I think Cindy's song is more authentic than Prince's. He is more acting concerned than he is true (when viewed what he was doing around the song). P. always is more money focussed.

agree You should check of, if you haven't already, her new album "The Body Accoustic". She takes several of her best songs and plays accousticly stripping away the popculture factor. It's even more beautiful then the studio. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

When you say "we might examine the two" that implies that you are going to add some input. You started this thread - don't you have any thoughts or opinions on the subject?

money changes...
for some reason i've always felt "money doesnt" was too slick a production for such a heartfelt song and great message...this could have been a great "sunday" song if it were kept a bit simpler... with that being said, i enjoy both songs. Space for sale...

You started this thread - don't you have any thoughts or opinions on the subject? yes. but sometimes it isn't about me sometimes I just like to see where the collective communication on a said topic matter might go, and I know after I put my thoughts or opinions the thread is likely to take a diffrent direction.
