KingSausage said: aw35077 said: Hmmm...if Prince is done why do people pay $100 or more to see him in concert?
Because they're a bunch of fucking pathetic gullible ass-muppets like you, fuck-o! They need to fork over hard-earned money for a little happy trip down Nostalgia Lane where they can recall with such bittersweet emotions the times they used to put on surgeon's garbs and whack their tiny penises on other boys' foreheads to the retarded beats of "Play in the Sunshine." You fuck. Another dork that hasn't been to a Prince concert lately, but still feels informed enough to comment about them.

Prince is done. He's over. He's finished. He's kaput. What's his fucking point anymore? Sure, he had some classic material back in the day, but what has he done lately? TRC had its moments, but it's utter monkeyshit compared to CDs like "Voodoo," "Now," or "Invincible." Prince is a fucking tool. I don't know why any of you people care anymore! You pay $100 just to get four lousy shitty CDs MAYBE sent to your house a year... You get to pay 8 billion fucking dollars for seats at a shitty dinosaur funk wankfest concert, filled to the brim with crappy medleys and ass-dribbling pseudo-intellectual crap about how Abe Lincoln was SOOO goddamn evil. You know...just fuck it...you sheep are going to read this and give me the same old tired "go to another web site...stop listening to him...lick his furry purple nutsack like we do..." response as always. It's not even worth trying to talk sense into fuck-zombies like you. I gotta admit...KS is makin' more sense here than I would have thought..and a LOT of people around here are nothing but pathetic sheep flocking behind a slowly-wasting-away shepperd...it does get boring watching many of you sucking on P's nipples night and day...I mean, fuck, PRETEND there IS a music world outside Paisley Park for awhile and you MIGHT start to see things the way they really are... Oh well... I had a go at Prince about the download thing, but let me tell ya... I am glad I have been a fan of his. My knowledge and appreciation of music is not constricted by any means, and yet I picked him as the one artist I would follow no matter what. Why...? Because Prince's musical universe is so rich and varied, his catalog so vast even without the bootlegs... It's been a trip and for me the trip continues. So he can be a prick and it takes like two tractor-trailers to move his ego around, but even in that, he is part of a rich tradition. Ever heard the story about JB paying Solomon Burke to "perform" with him? Burke had a huge ego as well and part of his stage act included wearing a cape and a crown, like... Well, Burke was all set to perform and everything, but JB's people kept coming to him saying "Mr. Brown would like you to perform in 10 minutes", etc. and they kept doing that, but it was never really time. Finally, he was told that JB wanted him to come on stage and surrender his crown and his cape and hail the new King. Burke said no way, asked for his 15 000 $ fee and left saying "If you guys want to do this again, just give me a call and I'll be pleased to work with James again." JB's people were not at all in love with their boss. They hated his egomania... yet JB would never have been who he is without this blind faith in his own greatness. Same goes for s lot of other seminal soul singers. TRC is a great record. I don't care what amount of revisionism yall want to get into... Warts and all, Prince is still an awesome performer. Maybe one day he'll break out of his present dada... In the meantime, I'm happy to listen to what he puts out, even if I know others might do this style or that style better than him, I don't think one artist can claim to do all of these genres with as much panache and power as he does. And that is why it will take a whole lotta snot to shake me from my Prince habit. After all, I put up with egomaniacs right here on the Org.

Aero, there are so many stories like that about JB, it's just not funny. And if the performer opening for a JB was a green, wet behind the ears artist made no difference either; JB was gonna have his way. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Yeah, the man who was proven right about the music industry (they are still crying about declining record sales), who was proven right about the stagnant state of mainstream radio, and who was proven right about the power of the internet for independent artists, is a has been. The man who is still one of the best guitarists in the world is a has been. Poor Prince. Pity the truly talented. They just can't compete with the American Idol hype. Or maybe they just don't want to waste their time trying.
And if you think the corporate sounding Invincible is better than the freedom that is The Rainbow Children or even One Nite Alone, then I guess in your case, the mainstream's medias brainwashing has been successful. I mean, I guess your saying if it ain't on a chart, or People magazine ain't mentioning it every other week, it's washed up. I wonder, are Me'Shel's fans so obsessed with what the mainstream media thinks. With idiots like KingSausage on this site, it's no wonder Ben hardly stops by anymore.

who was proven right about the power of the internet for independent artists... His Internet business practices are disgusting! And Prince is no "independent artist." 99% of what he's famous for is owned and distributed by Warner Brothers. An "independent artist" is someone who's never dealt with a label contract.
Also, sites like http://iuma.com (Internet Underground Music Archive) have been up and running since 1993! What was Prince doing in 1993, snotbrains? The man who is still one of the best guitarists in the world
He's just a dazzling noodler! He does what he does just fine, but he's NO Mike Stern John Scofield Pat Metheny Leo Kottke Buckethead John Abercrombie John McLaughlin Bill Frisell Ralph Towner Sonny Sharrock Vernon Reid Etc., etc., etc. (among the living) I mean GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! ----------------------------

WB KS Prince is always dicussed on this site, and proof of this, is that KS had his little rant about uncensored. So the debate is open, so if you have a problem with Prince you better consider what the solutions are. A: You can email NPGMC and rant. B: You can stop supporting Prince. C: You can stop obsessing on what you wish Prince to do. Yes Prince is far from perfect, but all you are doing by your little rant is nothing. You do not change the minds of the hardcore fans or the people who really are upset by Prince. Prince is an entertainer, and people freely choose to purchase his products or not. Your little piss on the floor rant, was nothing but a public shitfit, and very hilarious to watch. WB your the one taking the subject too seriously lol... ...
