Anyone else longing back for some dark, weird sounds? I mean... songs like Crystall Ball, There's others here with us, All my dreams, If i was your girlfriend, Shockedelica and Superfunkycalifragisexy?
I really dig the period 1985 - 1987. Not also on the released tracks, but especillay on the outtakes he was really delivering original, dark, weird music. Next to that, those songs often had much deeper, and thoughtprovoking lyrics then Prince 'usually' writes. For me these songs sounded like Prince was giving us more insight on himselve. I mean: a song like 'lolita' offers me 'a pose', while a song like If i was your girlfriend offers me an individual who is searching, who expresses his doubts and desires. Its the difference between 'entertainment' and 'art'. Anyone else longs back to those sounds?

Times they are a changing. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

It's funny: Prince, it's been said, criticized the Revolution for being cold. But I find such songs of his as being colder than anything he did with the Revolution. A lot of it has to do with the synth pads he was using as foundational: minor-keyed, vibratoed, brooding stuff over computer beats with tons of reverb.

Yes, I longs back to those sounds. I love the cold edginess of Prince's earlier work.

Yes. I want more Crystal Ball-stuff. I would also be glad with another 'spiritual' Rainbow Children-like album.
