SoulAlive

He went to a Lauryn Hill concert in 1999,then raved about it on his website.

He saw the Jacksons on the "Victory" tour in 1984,hanging out in the soundbooth.

He attended several Madonna shows. After seeing the 'Blonde Ambition' tour in 1990,he went backstage and presented her with a song ("By Alien Means") which she rejected.

Did prince actually ever see him?

JOHN MAYER [sic] has fans in unexpected places. First hip-hop heads like Jay-Z and Kanye West began singing the folksy pop singer's praises, now Prince has revealed himself as an admirer. The eccentric has reserved seats at six of Mayer's shows. The problem is just getting him to show up. "Prince has an actual placeholder sit where he might be seated. This is totally true," says Mayer in the San Francisco Chronicle. "The thing is, it actually makes you play better because you think Prince is there. So the whole time you're playing for Prince when you're really playing for kind of a dotted outline silhouette of him, and you later find out that he wasn't there," he adds. Poor guy.
"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

JM and the Dixie Chicks. I would be (not) suprised if he went. Actuallly, I believe that's what musicians shows. Speaking from expereince, it's a good way of finding out what NOT to do.

I'd hope so, John's great in concert.

I found the full quote...

About Prince:
"I have never met Prince before, but he has almost showed up at my show about six times. I think two more and it's a technical meeting.

"Prince has an actual placeholder sit where Prince might be seated. This is totally true.

"The thing is, it actually makes you play better because you think Prince is there. So the whole time you're playing for Prince when you're really playing for kind of a dotted outline silhouette of Prince, and you later find out that he wasn't there.

"I've got my Prince punch card: nine promises the tenth one's real."
