So when your diggin' the title track from C&D and the opening Michael B fill do you think about free software and your "old 486"?

Hmmm... yes in fact. You can sample the drum sounds off that song and get different variations of all the elements. Put it on some sort of simple sequencer (hell even a tracker will do) and blimey! Instant Michael B.

Better actually, that way you don't have to keep on telling the flesh replicant of the drum machine to play a little less to make the song breathe on its own right. "But I wanna use my new ride cymbal on this part!". Shut up! Just shuuut up! Sorry, flashbacks.

I don't know what's more pathetic? This thread being started to begin with or this many people commenting on it.

Actually I went to the library last night and also happened to take the D&P transcriptions book from the shelf and checked it out. Well, it says "Insatiable" would be in "6/8" instead of "12/8". See, for a melodic instrument player it hardly matters how the pulse is defined, just as long as the measurements are correct. Of course very few things are actually in 3/4, unless you're playing, like, a waltz or something.

...waltz? oh, "A Place In Heaven" can be added aboard then.

Oh my God, you don't like to be questioned NB do you!
Did you also get any books on getting out more, meeting people and making friends, all the way to the library to find out if it was 8ths or 1/4 notes.
Sorry, but I was still right about the 8th note feel , and that was my point all along.
Keep mowing the lawn.

You really think I went to the library just to check out that fact?lol

I visit the library twice a week and of course when I am at the note shelf being a Prince fan I quite naturally check out the availability of the products concerning Prince. And of course I happened to remember what I had just discussed at the .org so I might just as well check it out.

Keep listening to Dave Matthews. wink

The point was of course, that you were wrong. I don't really care were you or not, it's just a matter of netiquette. You don't write down even slightly offending remarks when you're eventually wrong yourself... oh fuck, you know what? I don't have anything against you, so why on Earth am I continuing this?

Shite, I need a reality check.

OKAY guys, if you really want to know why Prince loves to stop on the ONE, just do your homework. The 1 in a 4/4 beat is the funk.

I would strongly suggest everyONE that you read the best book about funk ever written:
"Funk: The Music, the People, and the Rhythm of the One" by Rickey Vincent.

go here to see more: http://www.amazon.com/exe...85-0392103

...and now you're at it, take a listen to "The Work, pt 2" again and note how the beat is accentuated on the one. Or check out anything by James Brown. idea

...said jalokin, the Danish geezer.

what's wrong with the two, three or four? when he was younger and could still dance he would stop on 2, 3 and 4. why no more?
why is it always on the one? that shit be pissing me off! why he don't give us "25 yeah" anymore? he too old to count that high?

why he don't get blow jobs from the female guitar players on stage no more? he too old to "get it up"(the time).

Prince neeeds to get with it, call Dr. Dre quick, and call Nelly to find out how to get it "HOT IN HERRRE!" again!
