Prince's sound is back-r u ready 4 the comeback?

Here's what I heard today:

Hella Good- No Doubt

How Come U Don't Call Me- Alicia

Boys- Britney

Pink- Don't Let Me Get Me

All these songs may as well be Prince's. The classic Mpls. sound is back and the world is waiting for Prince to take over again...

I totally agree. Britney's Slave 4 u sounds just like Vanity6's "Nasty Girl". P is also in No Doubt's "Waiting Room" from their recent album, singin with Gwen.
I hope P comes back with something burning Hot!
I LOVE HIM!

I totally agree with Britney's new song..(and her last one). You swear Prince worth those things if it wasn't someone else who had. Definately digging up Prince's old style when they wrote those 2 songs.

As for the Alicia's song..well it IS a Prince song so no surprise there. smile

But the other two don't make me think Prince.Certainly not Pink's song.

How about, "Addictive" by Truthfully Speaking?

There is something about the sound that reminds me of him.

Geneva is a dancer in the video, and she isn't doin the "windmill", which I personally think she is very good at. smile

Tom

Lets not forget "Idiot Boyfriend" by Jimmy Fallon. He totally does the whole song in Prince falsetto style. I bet he could do a great impersonation of Prince...

I am starting to think Prince was lucky to have been in the eighties. The music and attitudes were very creative and you could sing about anything.I know he would not do as well in the sixties or seventies(lyrics too controversial),and so far 2000+ speaks for itself. The 80's were lucky to have him as he was lucky to have the 80's.A match made in heaven.I actually thank him and MJ(thriller lp) for being the markers of that time period for me.

I agree 100% with this. I like the song "Slave 4 U", I am afraid to admit.

I was at Universal City Walk in L.A. strollin' thru the giant outdoor mall; Blasting away on the giant sound system was No Doubt & Prince's "Waiting Room".

Now, I have this cut...I liked it okay... but I never got the groove on it until just then.

Pumping thru the system was this heavy bass, the place was jammin'! My daughter looked at me, I looked at her...she goes, "that's that song with Prince!" I smiled.

We hung out awhile, listenin'...chillin'...jammin'...it made me feel good.

Prince (with a little help from his friends) was being jammed on a huge sound system...and people were enjoying it. Made me think of the past...when it was the norm.

Yeah, I'm ready 4 a comeback. I'm ready 2 turn on the radio and find his shit all over it again. I'm ready 2 see him produce everyone around him and their shit being all over it again.

Sadly, I don't think Prince is ready.

Then the people to thank 4 this is the Neptunes certainly not Britney. The Neptunes are definitely coming closer than anyone else when it comes to taking funk, rock, Rand B, fusing it together and making it danceable pop. Them boys r bad!
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I think the Sound Never went away but things become Watered-Down&Cheapen.also Yes He could easily get back on Radio as could MJ but only in Doses.the Industry is pushing that whole Vibe,Style&Era but in small fragments.take the Sampling of Debarge,Rick James,etc.. from the 80's it's Cool to Sample&Loop it but to bring the Acts back fully? I don't think the Industry wants to do that.look at Nelly? it's easier to Sample "Chuck Brown&the SOul Searchers"Bustin Loose" than to bring Chuck Brown&Crew out with Nelly. The Industry doesn't Mind the Sampling,etc..but they just don't wanna deal with the Artists from that Era.tricky situation IMHO.

I'm a huge fan of their songs. Sure some sound the same, but they've got that stripped down funky sound that Prince used to do that is almost impossible not to fill a dance floor. Sometimes it's just drums, vocals and a little synth like Prince's songs used to be done (When Doves, Kiss, Sign of the Times, etc.)

Pink to me is very 80's and the way she combines heavy metal guitar and great vocals with funk and beats makes me think of Prince's sound in the 80's. She even dresses like him.

Pink Reminds me of a Lucky Toni Basil"Mickey Song".She is so Contrived in Every way.the only thing I wonder when I see Pink is if the Kitty is Pink??Very Average Act at best IMHO.though the Right Stage Name&the kind of Chick Prince would have had at fronting Pink6 if this were the 80's?? I could see that.first song would be"thick-N-Pink".Production by Fresh Pink Chew. All Songs published by Pink Lemonade&Cookies.
