2 songs that just came out of ...nowhere Beautiful Strange and Glass Cutter.
Neither is associated with any "project" or full length CD. So I wonder if they were culled from a collection of works that are probably amazing.

Well, Beautiful Strange is on Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic. It was first heard during that interview video with Mel B around the time of Newpower Soul being out, and the video of it they sold on Prince's retail site was entitled 'Beautiful Strange'. So in a sense it's associated with that 'project' if you can call it that.
Glasscutter was originally called a demo, but then put out proper. I think it's an example of Prince recording material constantly. There are probably hundreds of these one-off tracks not meant for any specific projects by now, of course a shame Prince has been so miserly in putting them out.

I got your point, but I still think that since they kind of are unusual songs, I wonder if there are others in the same vein.
I think he has been holdin back the extraordinary stuff for years.

Too my knowledge Beautuful Strange was going to originally be a part of a Best of proposed cd. It was going to be segued after Joy in Repetition. Of course the project NEVER came 2 light.

Ok but does that mean he was twidlin around the studio one day and cranked it out? Or was he recording tracks and this is just one he decided to release?

[Edited 9/22/06 13:28pm] NEWS.....they r the SAME person. Sounds more like you messed up, plain and simple. The period is a definite period in time that did not involve Joy In Repetition. A best of that included tracks and Prince tracks would more commonly be known as a best of Prince, whether they are the same person or not, the era is different. I'm sorry, but the more you post the more mistakes you seem to make and then have to come up with some vague reply to cover it.

Hmmm, that's not what I heard. Besides, Beautiful Strange had already been released by the time "The Very Best of " was being assembled. Beautiful Strange was recorded in August 1999, and was released later the same month on the Beautiful Strange Video. It was later released on the Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic CD in 2000. The Very Best of was assembled at the end of 2001, and was intended for release in 2002 (but was shelved, along with several other projects). .

We never agree because you never have any evidence and make bold statements that either don't come true or are very unlikely or plain in error. Since you claim you know these 2 tracks were on some 'best of ' surely you must know some or all of the other tracks that were on there? Care to give us a list? It would be good for a laugh.

Actually, I think he's wrong with the recording date for Beautiful Strange. Has to be sometime in 1998, not 1999. Unless of course he means the version on 'Rave in2', but it's only slightly different.

Quite true, I'd heard that 'Beautiful Strange' was only recorded shortly before it's inclusion on the interview video of the same name, but this was actually made and broadcast on TV about a year before it was released on video. Which means it would had to have been recorded Sept/Oct 1998 (it was aired in Oct '98) and not 1999 (as that was when the video was distibuted). My mistake, I just looked up the release date of the video, and forgot that it had actually been broadcast the year before. [Edited 9/30/06 17:14pm]
