Were Prince and Ingrid Chavez just the GREATEST together? I think Ingrid Chavez was just about the best muse for Prince. Everything those guys did together was really awesome. Yeah the Black Album got cancelled and it is one of my favorite albums, plus it has already been officially released now so it doesn't matter.
No Ingrid= No lovesexy. Lovesexy the album AND the tour were FANTASTIC. Ofcourse we know that Ingrid was not the first choice for the film Graffiti Bridge, but her influence was all over the film. She kinda makes the movie for me. I can't see how anyone could of played Aura better. Plus I LOVE Ingrid's album. I'm not sure how much Prince was involved with it...I know Michael Koppleman had alot to do with it. I just think Prince and Ingrid made a great team. No, I don't think so. Ingrid's beat poetry was too scatty for my taste and didn't make for catchy records; poetry set to music rarely does. She was the 'spirit child' for Lovesexy fair enough; but Vanity and Susannah were just as influential in previous music; her performance in Grafitti Bridge was neither here nor there (much like the film) and that's it.

Her post-Prince contributions to the music of David Sylvian, her husband, add up the worst musical period of Sylvian's career. The moment he split up with her he put out his best record in 15 years. [Edited 9/16/06 18:04pm]

I really love Ingrid! She's not my favorite Prince associate, but
she's got a nice voice, she's cute, and her weirdo personality reminds me of myself If you will, so will I

I think the motivation and inspiration for that album was from the ecstacy she fed him rather than her personality or her presense. Ofcourse we know that Ingrid was not the first choice for the film Graffiti Bridge, but her influence was all over the film. That would explain why the film was so awful.

Graffiti Bridge was positively horrid. I liked the way Prince looked in the movie. That was the only good thing about it. A doorknob could have played Aura. I just think Prince and Ingrid made a great team. gonna hafta disagree with you there. All she did was get him high and talk the same kinda gibberish pseudo-religious God-talk that Prince was known for. Matter of fact, it was around that time (Grafiti Bridge/Black Album vs Lovesexy) that was Prince losing touch with reality more than ever. This is when he kinda started to forbid any feedback that was not totally supportive of every decision he made. This is when he really started pushing the truly creative people out of his inner circle and was slowly bringing in the the "yes men." I don't like her. I think mostly she was a bad influence.

i've asked this dozens of times and i haven't gotten an answer yet: what the hell is an elephant box?!!!
as for prince and ingrid being great together, my answer is no. it was a radical breakaway from what prince had been doing, but nope. wasn't really great.

All I remember about Ingrid Chavez was her awful poetry in Graffitti Bridge (the movie)...something like "abadoned on the street at the tender age of seven/my life was no idea of heaven"
GOOD LORD! Though she was hilarious in than sense. and she was one of his most sexless assosiates. "You could say I'm a terminal case/You could burn up my clothes/Smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride"

Ingrid just did not work for me in Graffiti Bridge. It just did not seem right to me that Prince and Morris were fighting over her. Maybe I am just being superficial but someone more along the lines of Vanity or Appolonia or another "bombshell" type woman would have been better in that role (IMHO).
I mean if you don't have the substance (acting ability, interesting plot...) why not go for the style? "Always blessings, never losses......"
