There are Many Prince bootlegs Circulatin the Internet. Have u come by these?

If u have, did u buy them 2 add 2 ur legal Prince album collection?

For example there are thousands of live material from the early years, even from 1979. The vast majority are from live shows, dat have been nicknamed appropiately, etc.

U can buy Prince concerts across the world at almost any time in his carreer.

So how many do u own and do consider this tratoirin 2 Prince.

i'm fan enough that if he released something officially that i already had as bootleggage, i'd buy it again just to have a cleaner version and to support the release of more such music.

Hell, only a fan would buy his bootlegs. A non-fan could care less about them.

I don't Consider myself a Fan, nor do I have any "Prince" Bootlegs.

Not always though. Most of the few bootlegs I have are copies from friends I know that used to live up North. Bootlegs are hard to find down here.

Prince doesn't believe in ripping off his friends (fans), why would anyone who is truly a friend rip off his work?

Talent should b rewarded, not exploited.

Well, a "friend" would make a copy of the music and give it to them.

I own bootlegs. I consider myself a fan. I would suggest that the quality of some of the bootlegs that are out there points to someone inside the P organisation... Now I wonder who that could be?

For one, I don't consider it ripping Prince off to have bootlegs, since if there's no legitimate way to get them, he's not charging for them so he's not losing any money. The quality is usually low enough that if he ever did put them out legitimately the fans would buy them all over again.

I don't think Prince's views on bootlegs are that straightforward, there are times when he appears to have been far more forgiving about such things, he even put out the internet only track Cybersingle as a free download. Also he seems to have played on fans knowledge of bootlegs, occasionally playing a non-released track well aware that fans will know and love it, such as playing Empty Room.

Whatever, the fact is that the huge amount of unreleased material floating about has only enhanced Prince's status as a legendary musician and helped keep his fanbase as a community through talking about and sharing such material.

That IS true. Prince's popularity is based on a number of things, one of which is the constant flow of new tunes from Paisley Park. The fact that we own some of them merely enhances his musical reputation.
