Love 4 Disc II in Emancipation...Anyone else?

There are so many songs on that 2nd disc that I really dig. Well, about 4. They are all the slow grooves...esp. "One Kiss at a Time". Oh my!!!!! Ultra sexy and romatic and simply well crafted. That was obviously an interesting time in his life. What was going on then besides Mayte? That baby song is sad. Little did he know what was to come. I am being really teenage here-but I do feel like "Man! He should have stayed with that woman! Or vis versa".

"Last night,I spent another lonely christmas...Darlin'., darlin' you shouldv'e been there....Of all the ones I dream about, you are the one that makes my love shout, You are they only one I care for"

Maybe Emancipation might be my favorte Prince CD of all time.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

When I first got it, I liked disc 2 the best, with Dreamin' About U as the absolute higlight. But now after a couple of years disc 3 is my fav, very funky!

I've always been amazed by One Kiss at a Time - that Prince could create such a melodic groove with the bare essentials of voice and a little synth/percussion. Disk 2 is defintiely the strongest one on Emancipation - still say Joint 2 Joint is one of his sickest tracks ever.

Disk 2 is definately the best from Emancipation. I always think of this as his "Love" CD, because it has so many ballads and love songs just on this one CD. I can't think of another album of his that has as many ballads!

I love that disk, but I skip Sex in the Summer, maybe the worst first track of the three. I like The Holy River a lot, and the rest of the tunes.

Disc 2 of Emancipation is my least favorite of the three... It's filled with lots of slow, sappy songs that do nothing for me.

BUT... it DOES contain my 2 favorite songs from the entire 3-disc set, "Holy River" and "Joint 2 Joint" (especially "J2J", which is just amazing). So go figure.

Hello,

I love the 2nd Disc from Emancipation as well.

I have wonderd if Prince had thought about releasing Disc 2 seperately as a Prince album at some point.I recently uploaded Emancipation to my IPOD. Disc 1 and 3 upload on the IPOD info cards as being credited to prince, and Disc 2 was credited to Prince. I was wondering maybe early versions of Emancipation were being considered for different release formats similar to stories I had heard about Come and Gold; Come being a Prince release and Gold being a prince release and the idea of releasing them in the same year(1994 I believe).

Maybe before Prince got out of his contract some of this material was ready to be released as something else.

Just ideas.

The second disc of Emancipation always gets a couple of spins in my CD player, especially in the springtime. It just puts you in a good mood and it's also the tightest and cohesive disc out of the three discs. I'm just thinking how big Emancipation could have been if he just released the second disc alone with a few joints from the first disc. It would've been another classic and blockbuster, don't u think?

What happened with that album? Did it bomb? Was it not marketed correctly? It's another one that most of the public didn't get to hear. Sadly. There are some amazing songs on it. Holy River, Joint 2 Joint, Emale, Dreamin About You, etc.

You know...I wish I knew. Was it just another Prince album only a true Prince fan could love? A lot of the stuff from the 90's of his was hard for most of the public to hold onto. I don't LOVEEE every single song on those discs. But, like all his other stuff, I appreciate and respect his work, even if I don't go bananas whene I listen. I know he will eventually make me crazy again, at some point. He always delivers.
