Words by themselves do not oppress me. I will not be silenced when I am harmed...But these idiots are not harming me by posting stupid threads...In fact, they make me stronger...They allow me to understand how intelligent *I* am...And how much better a person *I* am...

For me, responding shows that I am weak. These people dont want to debate anything. They just want to show their stupidity...So in this case, just like in the case of the black kids who were forced to walk through mobs of angry stupid white people, silence is the best policy...

It depends on the individual and the situation. The successful methods of one isn't exactly the successful method for all. There are different ways to get things done for different people. Depending on the method, one can be just as valid as another.

I've refrained from commenting on this topic because I'm in disbeleif that Prince fans are this fucking stupid.

I just checked out the thread entitled "She Loves Me 4 Me Debuts..." It was posted Friday, August 9th. There have been 2 responses to this reasonably interested Prince-related topic (I'm going to add a comment now, so there will be THREE!!).

The lack of responses to legitimate Prince-related threads should tell us all something about this site. Yes, we all love his music, but we gravitate more to the topics that represent the events in our lives that are influenced by our shared musical interest.

For some, his music means religious expression (yawn). For others, the music inspires discussion of racism (there is absolutely no justification for the hateful post from earlier today). Somehow, others find that the music inspires analysis of one's political views. Strangely, we rarely find popular threads devoted simply to the music or the artist.

I truly hope that a few bad, worm-ridden apples don't ruin the site for the rest of us. Yes, I was appalled to see the racist post from earlier today, but it was equally appalling to see other angered orgers accusing Ben of being racist as well, simply because the thread got started!

Finally, let me say that the "old org" was no bastion of good manners. If I had the time, I'd chronicle some of the horrible chat behavior from that site as well. But there was one important difference: New topics had to be approved. It didn't necessarily curtail rude behavior in the responses, but at least the topics had been screened.

So before Ben decides to do away with the discussion forums altogether, I hope he will consider a process whereby new topics are screened prior to inviting comments. I could live with that. Could anyone else?

Hey The Name jocker has a few points there !
No we never realy did behave "properly" round here and discussions in chat did get raw there have always beenthe flame wars and "Characters" folks ceated for whatever mindgames they like to play have always existed among the members of our community .
But things have gotten way wy out of hand and WE need to behave responsably and help the guys clean up this mess that has taken over our beautiful site in part by looking at and resopnding to more of the Prince /music topics and so rather tan contributting to the populartiy of those eh things that make our blood boil
But I still over all do think we would do good to go back to something closer to the old org than what we have today ! Just my opinion ...
